Description Image is of a young Xylequin.
---------------------------------
Xylequin (zie-leh-qwin): this is more of an equine sub-species than a breed, but for the sake of a breed sheet, we'll treat it like one.

Breed standards:
-- Neck is long and thinner than that of many horse.
-- Muzzle is shaped somewhat like a horse, somewhat like a giraffe and is more narrow than that of a typical horse. Ears are relatively long compared to domestic horses.
-- Horns are always curved and are always a neutral color like black, brown, tan, creme, or white.
-- Long legs with tons of feathering.
-- Mane and tail must be very thick (many hairs) with silky/wispy feel.
-- Tail type can be domestic horse-like or zebra-like, same with the mane.
Stats: 75% of Xylequins have horse-like mane/tail; 25% have zebra-like.
-- Hooved feet may be cloven, single hooved, or three-toed like an extinct horse.
Stats: 50% of Xylequins have cloven hooves; 30% have single-hooved feet; 20% show ancient three-toe structure in the hooves.

COAT COLOR: Tends to produce light-colored young in comparison with the previous generation, thus the sub-species/breed is always becoming lighter in color until a rare dark-colored stallion is introduced into a population. This breed can produce viable albino offspring.
Stats: 75% of Xylequins do not have much non-natural coloration; 5% are albino; 20% have red, blue, or purple markings on their natural coat.

Acceptable coat colors: Albino, creams, greys, appaloosa, paint patterns/zorse, duns, buckskin, bays, seal brown.
+ acceptable mane/tail colors: any natural hue and/or shades of red/blue/purple.
+ acceptable markings are anything besides dappling (light on dark); marking colors are typically natural but can include shades of blue, red, and purple.
Unacceptable colors: chestnut solids, roans/dapples, or black.

If red or blue colors are seen in the fur of an adult, typically they were purple at birth and gradually "fade" to blue/red hues by the time the Xylequin is 2 years old.

--AGING
-- They age a bit slower than horses, and can live up to 70 years in the wild.

--SIZE
-- Minimum 16hh, up to 22hh.
-- Slender, do not weigh as much as you'd think they would (about 75% of the weight of a normal horse their size)

--DIET
-- They can eat basically any non-poisonous plant, and inhabit regions such as forests, jungles, swamps, and grasslands. They are rarely found in dry (tundra or desert environments), due to their hunger for lush vegetation. In rare cases, they may consume horse feed, but they are most healthy consuming wild and cultivated plants.
