Description Another in class assignment. This was done using a grid. The original picture was one fourth this size. I drew this on an 18"x24" sheet of drawing paper using HB-7B pencils. This isn't the actual finished product, but it's close enough. I had to submit the final product to an art show and didn't get to take a picture before doing so. The only real difference is the shading in the arm. I feel that it is a bit light and not proportional, but I guess, if I followed the original correctly, these are the same proportions. I guess distortions are more obvious on large drawings.

Wow, looking at the previous comments, it seems my voice of appreciation is a little flat, or perhaps sharp like I tend to be musically, or in any event out of tune, but just slightly, just enough to be jarring.

This portrait is lovely.

Gee, thanks! It must really mean something if I am getting a compliment on the hair and other details on a pencil drawing from you....I am flattered.

It's really bugging me that the site wont let me veiw this picture closer right now because I'm really wanting to take a closer look at those details. The hair looks great (not that I have a think with nicely drawn hair), but what really grabs me about this picture is the smile. So much detail and care was put into it, the teeth and the gums especially. A photograph doesn't do this picture justice, but on it's own it's still just ... awesome

So much life in the drawing. In fact its perfectly fine with me. The eyes and the smile says so much.

Thanks for the compliments! I've been called a perfectionist many times before, but I insist I am only admitting my art's flaws so that I can learn from them, and hopefully do better next time. Anyways, what's so wrong with wanting perfection?

Nothing at all, I am a perfectionist, too I can't be, though, as a comics artist, so for me there's something wrong. Anyway, as they say, "You are your own worst critic." Also, thanks for the fav

Hah hah, your comments on it sound like those of an avid perfectionist This is gorgeous work, truly amazing that you can make such fine, but smooth pencil rendering on that scale, it's a terrific pencil render.
