i'm not a scientist ( just a science and sci-fi aficionado) but aside the fact that i liked the movie in every aspect, the depiction of the black hole blew my mind (even if probably wasn't the first time they showed one made like this... i dunno xP). I was still stuck to the flatter style, black invisible part in the centre with a luminous disk of rotating matter around the event horizon... but thinking back, it's reasonable that more likely a black hole would look like this, cause the light from the out-of-horizon-event disc behind the centre (from the viewer perspective) would still come to our eyes being bent in a einstein lens effect Space's a amazing place xD

I agree, as there was some major artistic visions in the movie, I guess some aspects were scientifically accurate.
Because the Black Hole isn't a _hole_ literally, and its event horizon would look the same no matter which side you are watching it from,
the Gargantua would probably be somewhat realistic.

This turned out very lovely, yes I recognised right away that this was inspired by Interstellar. I really like the bright glow and the gravitational lensing.

Awesome :>    I loved this movie, and love how this effect wasn't even something they planned, they were using calculations of how a black hole would look, and to their surprise they got the halo.

Thank you very much, it is a really good movie indeed. Yet we haven't seen a black hole directly, it was a good thing that they made the visuals look like something they would look like in theory. I tried to be as accurate I could with the details in this one.

yeah, and true, we won't know 100% till we get close enough to see one, but the math and such indicate this is how they should look hehe nice replication :>

yeah, it's neat how the movie guys didn't even expect the gravitational lensing like that, they were trying to calculate how it would look, and got that halo effect :>
