Another one of my art pieces based on my original music.

I felt a lot of my art and music were somewhat dark or depressing so I wanted to make a happy song... I closed my eyes and imaged my "happy place." What came to mind was a never-ending meadow. Like a scene from Zelda, I was riding a horse, with little chickens/cucco's peacefully floating around me.

I played on the piano the feeling that came to mind, and what I ended up writing was an old-timey sounding waltz. I liked how it sounded and felt, however it was kind of boring without anything else going on in the piece. So I asked my vocalist friend to write lyrics for it; full artistic freedom. Sing whatever comes to your heart and... she ended up writing sad lyrics to my one happy place song xD

So what this visually represents is my happy place turning ironic. At the time I drew this, I came down with an eye-lid infection. It lasted months and I had to eventually getting surgery to try to fix it partially. I was worried that I may end up looking like a monster for the rest of my life; which is why the character's head looks like an infected eye, and it's holding out a rose "seeking approval." I thought "who will love me if I end up looking like a freak?"

I also Tim-Burtoned out one of the chickens in my imaginary happy place to illustrate the irony, and gave it a surreal feel with the Dali legs.
