Coupling their aesthetics with their colors, I'd see them as masks worn by the Shadow Toa in Bionicle Chronicles #1.

This is perfect! I've Photoshopped an Akaku to be symmetrical, but seeing on in person feels GREAT.

Are these fresh out of the printer? I think the material choice is not perfect, but maybe a bit of sanding might help. Or not, who knows.

It's just prototypes. I sanded them a little already and smoothed them with acetone, but these are too tiny things to be precise with a 3Dprinter.

I see. Perhaps not sanding down right away, but filling up the crevices with plaster is the way to go. Many cosplayers use it to smooth any accidental holes, and then they cover their armor with either clear spray paint or wood glue, but I don't think the latter would work here. Be warned, this process is not necessarily cheap.

I already know very well about the use of plaster and mastic to fix holes in cosplays and other creations. As I said, it's only prototypse, those masks are not meant to be final products. I will eventually buy some of them via Shapeways to have HD prints of it. It is very difficult to make so tiny thing proper and beautiful, my printer is not adapted to make such little objects.
Here is just a preliminar presentation of those models, and eventually I will use them for something and give them a better completion, but I probably won't make it now...

I know, I was just wondering how the prototypes can be made to look decent.
