Spice gliders born with mutations can trace their roots back to a common ancestor who first displayed the the mutated trait.

Olivia is the common ancestor for those born with octopus syndrome, a mutation of split tails. It's common for a glider with this mutation to feature one split in their tail, which can occur anywhere along the length of their tail. It's rare for there to be three or more splits. The splits are fully functional as prehensile tails, so it's common for gliders to exclaim they need more tails when they are trying to get a lot of work done. Olivia herself featured six splits in her tail, and was well respected for being able to quickly fulfill the need for bulk orders of medicine during outbreaks of sickness.
