I think the Germans had already incorporated Czech Republic into their nation before the end of the war.

I thought Moscow area and Ukraine would be turned into Reichskommisariats
Why there are "State of Moscow" and "Republic of Ukraine"?

I think Hitler would have wanted to directly integrate Denmark, Norway and Sweden instead of having them as satellite states... You know, because of the large proportion of "Aryans" in those countries and the nazi obsession with said "race".
But other than that i find it rather realistic and it also looks nice, good job.

I have an idea for a great alternate history. Germany wins WW 2. and after the Germans find out, what crimes the Nazi-government did, there is a democratic revolution and civil-war and Germany becomes again a Republic or maybe a monarchy.
They make peace with the other Europeans and found an european union with Germany as the Protector-power.

Egnoramus In reply to Arminius1871 [2011-01-23 21:57:18 +0000 UTC]
that could work. or the Allies get involved in the revolution, placing their government of choice in power. that eliminates that "make peace with the other Europeans" step.

Mh, I think that wouldnΒ΄t work too well,
because the allied, especially England were not only anti-nazi
but also anti-german, thatΒ΄s why they allowed, that Germany loses 1/4 of their territory and that 15 mio Germans can be expulsed from the east.

Egnoramus In reply to Arminius1871 [2011-01-24 12:23:37 +0000 UTC]
hmm... what if someone managed to convince them otherwise. what if someone conviced them that the Nazis' lies caused the Germans to do what they did, and that it was more benificial to through out the Nazis then punish the Germans.

anyway, i've heard of operation Valkyrie, but not Stauffenberg. reguardless, if the attemts at Hitler's life were successful, then that could work.

Nice map, but didn't want the Nazis conquer the whole continent (or the world)? I mean, the territory they had in 1942 was a bit bigger, wasn't it?
π: 0 β©: 1
vaipaBG In reply to Furor-Teutonicus [2010-12-01 20:49:34 +0000 UTC]
Thanks.Well first thing's first Germany wanted back the territories it lost back in WW1 to annex them to the fatherland. And yeah they did have alot of territory in 1942 but it was only occupied. If they did win the war they would have controlled europe through influence (kinda like the SovietUnion controlled eastern europe through its commie regime) and with the help of its allies (Italy,Hungary,Bulgaria and Romania)

Czechoslovakia was, after Austria and the Sudetenland, the 3rd hunk of territory directly annexed into the Third Reich. Slovakia was left around as a puppet state, but the Czech's were VERY integrated, given their proximity to the German core.

Why did Hungary took those lands from Romania anyway?
π: 0 β©: 1
kazi2000 In reply to fennomanic [2011-03-04 16:23:17 +0000 UTC]
During the Austro-Hungarian empire, the austrians and hungarians administrated separate teritories. One of the territories that was assigned to the hungarian part for administration was Transylvania, which had a majoritary romanian population, the rest consisting in hungarians and germans.
Due to that fact, the Kingdom of Romania had claims over that region and after WW1, the romanians and germans of Transylvania voted for Union in 1918. That didn't stopped the hungarians, so the Hungarian-Romanian war emerged, which consisted in the defeat of Hungary and it's occupation by the Romanian Army from 1919-1921. During that time, in 1920, in France at Trianon it was signed the official treaty in which the territories of Hungary that didn't had hungarian majority were given to the ones who were the majority there ! So Transylvania was given to Romania, Slovakia received independence and united with "Czechia" and formed Czechoslovakia, Croatia also received independence and united Serbia forming Yugoslavia, Serbia also received Vojvodina, which was a serbian autonomy land during the empire, and Austria received Burgenland.
Hungary was definetly not happy to loose all those lands, so after WW1 it had a policy of irredentism, claiming that all those lands be returned. So in WW2, the germans gaved them in the Second Vienna Award, the northern part of Transylvania (the were not happy with that also, cose they wanted it all), also parts of Slovakia, Serbia and i guess some villages in Slovenia.
So basically this is more or less the whole tragic story of the romanian-hungarian rivalry and also the rivalry that Hungary has with all it's neighbours.
Nowadays with the EU and NATO, there are no official problems or something like that, but obviously the ultra-nationalists on both sides fighting and insult eachother !
But i hope that even they will be healed someday from this "disease" and start being nice to eachother. At least i'm in treatment lol So PEACE !

Yes. And that was one of the reasons why Romania feeled betrayed by Germany and on 23 august 1944 decided to ally itself with the USSR and take back northern Transylvania.
