That looks more like Drizzt being protective over Catti-Brei in the underdark than them mourning. But I have seen this picture many times before, and if it is not your art then you should not post it because you are taking credit from someone else's hard work.

It is mine. I used a pic of Spiderman and Gwen for reference on the pose. Sorry for the late reply but I have been away for a while.

If you would like to question the validity of my illustration, I can provide you with a certificate from the Alex Defresne Art Gallery who have hosted my work. The original is done on marker paper using graphite pencil (which accounts for the wavy fading in some of the areas of the picture). I also know that other artists have replicated my piece. But thank you for your comments.

You are shadings mistress. The characters seem to live under your pencil. And I love drows.

The sentiment is great, the detail is awesome, the setting unique. This is a great picture. However, I'm not feeling the shock or mourning on her face. His comes through great, but she looks like she's puckering up to make up with an abusive lover (her face is a bit disproportionate and swollen. There tends to be a bit of swelling around the middle as well.
Still, it's been added to my faves. This is definitely the best drow I've seen in a long while.

Hello, I just wanted to let you know that I saw this pic when I was googling 'Drizzt' the other day, it was so pretty that I had to try and draw it myself. It can be seen here---> [link]

If you want me to remove the pic from my gallery, I will be happy to do so, and I am sorry I didn't find you on here to ask permission if I could use it first, as I didn't know it was on DA.

I personally loved it when Wulfgar died but thats just me and he was my least favorite character. ANYWAYS! To the point, I adore the picture but she looks more like she is pleased that he is dead and come on, shes by a hot drow. By I do heart the shading, VERY well done! *claps*

She's in shock! But you're right, it would be very hard for a girl to resist a fella in uniform.

The work is very good but there is something strange in Catti-brie. Her face seems to be older than she is. However Drizzt is very good. I really didn't feel sad when Wulfgar dead. And I didn't appreciate book of "The spine of the world" that talk about Wulfgar.

Have you ever read "War of the spider Queen" saga?

Love the shading. The color version of this is wonderful too, but When you go to enlarge it, it gets too big O.o. If you reduce the resolution the image'll shrink when you submit it ^_^. Love your gallery. Mind if I watch you?

The majority of my originals are 14"x17", and to upload them I have reduced them to 72ppi so they may still be printed at that size.

I don't mind, the more the merry! Thanks for watching.

The Dark Elf Trilogy, IcewindDale Trilg., Legacy of the Drow, Thousand Orcs, Lone Drow, The Two Swords. It's been a long time since I've read of the Dragonlance series, so I'm starting those soon.

Vallee In reply to Mis-misunderstood [2006-07-31 20:05:06 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for your interest.

Regarding illustration some of the important things to remember are:
(my professor, oh man could he talk, and talk, harped on these next points, but he's right!)

1. Practice
2. Practice using live people or photographs
3. Draw what you SEE, not what you think you see

Use photographs of different places, people and things as reference.

If you draw a person in a fantasy realm you can mix up reference material: ex. take the background from National Geographic, with a person posing from a photo you've taken and style the clothing from medevil times.

It's OK to be critical about your work, but don't get bent out of shape about it. Don't be afraid to change things about a piece of artwork you've done.

Your artwork is very good and will only get better if you work hard.

Feel free to ask questions, I'm glad to help.
