Description Watching Scooby-Doo the other day I got inspired to do a little fan art. For the line work, instead of a typical animation "dead" line, I used a more comic book inking style. Photoshop, Wacom.

I think the lines came out looking rather good. I always like it when people color lines something other than black.
The Magnifying glass is a nice touch.

Thank you very much! I also like seeing what people can do with line work other than flat black.
Just to clarify my thought process--Animation usually uses colored lines, and I wanted that look for Velma. Animation generally uses (say, with an outline around a character) a 'dead' line, or a line with the same consistent thickness. Comic art usually use lines with varying thicknesses to achieve weight and variety. I decided to try an animation look with the colored lines, but varying the thickness of the lines like comics.
I assume Velma is the quintessential mystery solver and would not be caught without her trusty magnifying glass.

Interesting. I'm not an artist myself, but I see some pieces out there with black outlines (a style which I think some people adopt from some Japanese techniques). It's cool information though, thanks for the explanation.

That's what made Velma my favorite. The consummate problem-solver and clue-finder.

Thank you. I thought the turquoise-ish background brought her orange and brown outfit out nicely.
