This is a stunning painting.

The textures and shading are beautifully done. 

The color pallet is very harmonious.

I feel the hunter  being lightly suggested without a great deal of detail is an excellent lead into the painting.  It pulls the viewer's eye directly to the main focus of the dragon. It adds interest to the painting to make the viewer

speculate on the theme of the painting.

The way the light source is painted really defines the dragon's form and makes it come alive in the foreground. It definitely creates an atmosphere that is mysterious, hot and  forbidding.

I like very much how the background tends to make the dragon look as if he/she has flown out of now where to fiercely defend it's territory from an unwanted intruder.
