Description Well, I've been in a Disney mood lately, and so I thought I'd search on some fun stuff on my favorite Disney ride ever, The Haunted Mansion.

I have not yet ridden it since the reinventing of the story with the bride, but from the stories I gathered, I prefer the original story with the brides as opposed to the grooms. Keep in mind, I'm talking about the Florida one, as I know all Disneylands have different stories which I'd love to read if anyone knows where I can read them.

Anyway, going off of the original story, I drew some of the characters in the classic story which is mainly about a man, Master William Gracey, Jr. and his relationships.

I'm gonna go through the characters L-R, row by row.

First is Ubbe van der Iwerks; He doesn't really have a story other than he's a Dutch patrician who had the mansion built on an old Indian burial ground site in 1671.
He and his family dealt with the Mansion's eerie goings-on, and later on in the next two centuries the house became a bordello/pirate retreat. Then the house was bought by the next character I drew.

His name is Master William Gracey, Jr. who's basically a scion to his wealthy family. He's tried marrying but all his wives end up dead, because of his mistress Madame Leota, my next drawing. He ends up being told by Madame Leota herself that she killed his wives out of jealousy, and so he tries to escape. Seeing as he couldn't escape and found himself trapped, he decided to go suicidal in the attic by hanging himself, instead of being imprisoned by Madame Leota.

Madame Leota is next. She's an evil amateur spiritualist who wants more power by summoning spirits. She's the mistress to Master Gracey, Jr. and uses her magic to control all of the servants. She performed seances in the house and people from all over came for it. In early 1943, she tried to use the mansion to conjure more and more spirits, but Master Gracey refused. At this point, she tells Gracey he killed his wives. He tries to escape, and she ends up preparing a spell to trap him in her crystal ball forever, but it backfires and she ends up trapping herself.

Next drawing is of Lillian O'Malley, Gracey's first wife. She's a trapeze artist and even after Gracey married her, he continued to have affairs with Leota, to Lillian's dismay. Leota, being jealous, one day asks her to perform her trapeze act over an alligator infested river. Lillian performed it, and Leota magically unties the rope and Lillian gets devoured by alligators.

Next drawing is 16 year old Emily Cavanagh, the original bride in the attic. She had recently lost her parents and fell head over heels for Gracey. On their honeymoon though, they decided to play hide and seek, and she chose to hide in a large trunk in the attic. Leota ended up sneaking in behind her and locking the trunk, leading to her suffocation and death. At her funeral, Leota made the horses drawing the hearse panic, rushing off with the coffin knocking her wedding ring off of it, and the ring leanded deep into the front walk, where it could never be moved. Emily's body ws never found.

Next drawing is Little Leota; She's Madame Leota's daughter and possibly Garcey's illegitimate kid. She was a practical joker in a bit of a dark way. She loved scaring people a lot. She actually scared the housekeeper to death at some point. She was also a bit of, for lack of a better term, slut. She flirted and seduced many men who stayed at the Mansion. But there were 3 men she could never seduce; Gracey's butler, footman, and handyman. One day she got impatient, lured all three out into the swamp with Gracey's bloodhound, Hellhound, and led the three men into quicksand. the men tried climbing each other as Little Leota sat in a tree branch laughing. Her branch snapped and she ended up falling into the quicksand with the 3 men. Huzzah.

The last drawing is of Gracey's great aunt Victoria Boufout. She's sort of the cause for all the ghosts having fun in the graveyard. She was throwing a Halloween party and all the townsfolk came and enjoyed themselves. At the end of the party, everyone but the Graceys died due to contaminated water used for the tea everyone drank. Victoria did die though, because of a curse by Madame Leota.

There are more characters I will draw, but these are the one's that have the best stories I feel.

I am planning on drawing the Hatbox Ghost, the Ghost Dancers, Prudence the housekeeper, the Coffin Ghost, the Organist, and the Hitchiking Ghosts.

I thought that I had read somewhere that it is a fact that Master Gracey is not the ghost host; and that the ghost host was the one who hung himself.

Thanks for the info, though! Well done!

Hi, if you're looking for the full scoop on The Haunted Mansion rides, film, and backstory, please feel free to visit [link] .

I'm a major fan of the Haunted Mansion myself, and working for Disney's Publicity and Corporate Art department I get to use HM in alot of things, which makes me a very happy person!! In fact, I used to work there as a "little goth girl" as we used to call them, in California. So if you love the HM, make sure you go to DoomBuggies.com to check out all their very insightful information on your fave attraction.

P.S. Great drawings too!!
