Adler was born in Stuttgart, Germany to a middle class family. He has two sisters and a younger brother. He grew up in a strict environment, but was allowed to have fun and be a kid. At a young age, Adler had a fixed fascination for dead things. He liked to pick up deceased animals and take them home to open them up for experimentation. He started to study books on medicine and quickly it took over his whole life.

It was decided early on he wanted to be a doctor, not necessarily to help people, but more just to feed his own curiosity. He went to a highly ranked medical college, but within his first semester, he lost his temper badly with a teacher who told him he’d never be a doctor, that he was too crazy.

Adler was kicked out of school and blacklisted amongst all the hospitals in Germany, so he took his leave and packed for America. He made it by, but it seemed all the money he made was wasted on his pet birds.

One day Adler stumbled across an unhappy Russian man named Ivan. He found out Ivan had just lost his job. They became instant friends and decided to go job hunting together. They were both discovered and hired by Raoul. Their friendship blossomed into something more, but they were happy with their new jobs and new friends.

Adler always travels with a few of his doves, mainly his favorite, Archimedes. His birds keep him calm and help prevent any anxiety. He doesn’t particularly get along with Tony and likes to tease the boy as often as he can.
