With a sour expression, Kanda snatched up a few of your items that thankfully hadn't been soaked by the rain and headed out your door. “You know he's only doing this to tick us off, don't try to convince me otherwise.”

Though you couldn't help but agree, just a little bit, you really didn't want to shove all the blame on Komui. Besides, it wasn't going to kill Kanda to be nice. “Kanda, it's raining, Komui can't control the rain and he can't help the fact that my roof was leaking. I know this is inconvenient, but I really don't think this is his fault.”

Kanda almost growled out his answer as he swung open his bedroom door. He had no problem at all letting you know just how unhappy he was with this arrangement. “The rain, no. But there are plenty of other places where you could stay. It didn't have to be in here.”

“I guess that's true.” You nodded, taking your pillows and blankets out of his arms. “He said he'd try to get someone to fix the leak by tomorrow, so hopefully I'll only be in here for one night, two at the most. If it's really that big of a deal, I can find somewhere else to sleep. I don't want you uncomfortable or upset with me. This really isn't your problem anyway.”

“No, it's fine.” His answer came a lot faster than you had expected. “I'm not upset with you anyway. Just, go to sleep already. I don't feel like talking.” Turning his back to you, he put out the small candle next to his bed and crawled in.

“Oh okay, well good night then.” You really weren't sure where you were supposed to be sleeping, and you really didn't know if it was a good idea to ask him. Kanda's room was relatively small, and you doubted he wanted to share his bed with you. Deciding it was better to play it safe, you dropped your pillows in the corner farthest away from his broken window, flopped down on the cold stone floor and covered yourself up.

A few restless minutes passed before you noticed a presence next to you. “What are you doing?” Just as you thought, it was Kanda, and strangely enough, he sounded amused. “You're going to get sick if you sleep down there. And if you get sick, Komui will make me take care of you.”

He had a point. Komui liked shoving the two of you together whenever he had a chance to do so. Forcing yourself to leave your thoughts, you nodded gently. “I didn't want you getting upset with me. You're already letting me in your room.”

Kanda shrugged and offered you his hand. “I know, but I think I have an idea. Maybe it'll keep Komui off of our backs.”

You weren't sure what he was talking about, but anything that might make Komui leave the two of you alone sounded like a good idea to you. Accepting his outstretched hand, you stood to your feet and quickly picked up your things. “Okay, I'll bite, what's this idea of yours?”

With a wide, almost evil looking grin, Kanda began explaining. “We act like none of this bothers us.”

It was an extremely simple idea, but you had a feeling it would work. “That, actually might work. Why didn't I think of that? If he can't get pleasure out of seeing us miserable and annoyed, maybe he'll stop messing with us and pick on someone else.”

“Exactly.” Glad you wouldn't need any convincing, Kanda once again got into his bed.

Even with his permission, you couldn't bring yourself to climb in the bed with him. “A-are you sure this is alright? It just, it seems weird.”

His voice was barely above a whisper, letting you know that he was already falling asleep. “It is weird, but it's alright.”

“Okay, if you say so.” After taking a deep breath, you slowly climbed into his bed and covered yourself all the way up to your nose. With your eyes already well adjusted to the darkness, you could see his face clearly, which did nothing to alleviate the awkwardness in the air. It did however make you smile. For the first time, Kanda wasn't wearing a scowl, he actually seemed pretty content, maybe even a little bit happy.

The unexpected sound of his voice almost made you fall out of the bed. “Stop staring at me and go to sleep.”

“I wasn't staring, I'm asleep.” Blushing terribly, you closed your eyes tightly to keep from looking at him. Luckily the moment your eyes shut you started to fall sleep. The sound of the heavy rain was an excellent lullaby, helping you drift off without any problems. When you awoke the next morning, you and Kanda were snuggled tightly together. Everything from your feet, to your hair was intertwined with his. You weren't sure if this was part of his plan, or if this was completely accidental. Either way, you couldn't help but be embarrassed. “Kanda, are you awake?”

He let out a low, tired groan. “No.”

“Okay, I'll just stay quiet then.” You tried staying quiet, but it didn't last more than a minute or two. “So, you didn't mean to do this?”

“Didn't mean to do what?” Kanda growled, lifted his head just slightly, exposing his messy hair, and opened one eye just enough to see you. Before you could answer him, he noticed the way the two of you were sleeping, turning his cheeks slightly pink. “Oh, that. No.” He dropped his head back down to the pillow and closed his eyes without saying another word.

His apathetic attitude took you by surprise. You'd half expected him to shove you out of the bed. But this was a nice surprise, so you didn't complain. “I guess you don't care then.”

Covering your mouth with his hand, Kanda silenced you. “Be quiet, Komui's coming. Act asleep.” As the door slowly creaked open, Kanda lowered his hand away from your mouth and pretended to be asleep.

The door continued to creak until it was open enough for Komui to tip toe in. “Aren't you two just adorable.” A strange, snapping sound came from where he was standing, but with your eyes shut, you were unable to tell what the sound was. “I'm sure everyone will just love to see these pictures. No one will ever take Kanda seriously again.”

In less than a second Kanda had managed to jump out of the bed, grab his sword, unsheathe it and press it against Komui's throat. “Give, me, that camera, now.”

“Oh, so you are still embarrassed to be around her, hmm? That's good to know.” Komui grinned wide and placed the camera into Kanda's open hand. “Well I'll leave the two of you alone now. I wouldn't want to intrude on a pair of cuddling lovebirds now would I? Laughing to himself, Komui skipped out of the room and shut the door.

Once again Komui had gotten exactly what he wanted. “Kanda, you have to calm down.” Pushing yourself out of his bed you took the camera and prepared to destroy the film. It came as no surprise to you when you opened the compartment and saw that it was empty. “There isn't even any film in here. He tricked us both.”

Kanda closed his eyes and sighed as his face turned red. “I admit, that didn't exactly go as I had planned.”

“No kidding.” You yawned. “I'm going back to bed. You should join me, you're much more comfortable than these pillows. You smell good too.”

To avoid letting you see his growing blush, Kanda quickly spun around and headed out of the door. “I'd rather not.” He sighed. “ You know, you're as bad as Komui.”
