Unfortunately they dry too fast to brush them on. I'd shove an unfolded paperclip into the end of the crayon to extend it to avoid getting burned. Then I would hold it over a candle until it would melt enough to apply to the board, doing it on paper didn't really work out. lol. 
This was done almost 10 years ago in high school. But I have mulled over the idea of doing it again and working to make it more detailed. We shall see.

(How do you paint with melted crayons? Do you brush them into the shapes or is there a different process?)
