Description My friend Chanin makes these books. They are awesome and they do stuff. As per Chanin: It is a simple (non-encryption) input-output code device. It has 3 different codes. It codes letters to numbers. I used regular Elmers glue (not watered down) and a razor knife to cut the center out. Example code:123456789... = abcdefghij... I call him the King of steampunk I am also currently entering this photo in a contest here [link] so if you like this please vote for me.

Does it actually serve it's purpose as a book?

Well seeing the center is cut out no, but if you close it it still looks like a book.

I'm not exactly sure but my friend glued every single page then cut it out using an Exacto knife I think.

I would love to make something similar to this just for decoration in my home. Any tips? I think this is one of the most interesting original works I have came across. Killer work!

I watched my friend make this so first find a book you'd like to use that's the depth you want(library book sales or thrift stores are good for this. Glue the pages with a mixture of water and white glue. Cut with razor or craft knife the size you want. Find old clock parts to put inside. I am not particuary mechanical but the one he made had movement and did things. If you just want pure decoration then just glue in. Clock repairs shops may have parts you can use or otherwise find not digital clocks to gut.

Thank you so much for the help. I am going out today to try and find some things steampunkish but that is going to be very hard to do in Nashville.

It's an input/output device. I forgot exactly what Chanin said but it's functional and not just decorative.

ooo, i LOVE those books that have stuff inside them! i tried to do that once to have a place to put my money (in a book on finances, too XD), but i did it with an exacto-knife, it took FOREVER, and eventually i gave up after making it through maybe 1/3 of the book XP i'm guessing HE probably used a saw

I don't remember what he used but I do remember him gluing endlessly I think I may make an empty book down the road just to put stuff lke my camera in it when I'm not taking pics and cosplaying.

Yes it does but it makes it sturdy for housing those clock components.

True. Well you could always make at least the book part yourself. It takes awhile but its just watered down glue then cutting thru the pages for the interior. He's only made just the two I think. This one was sold to the lovely lady in another of my pics Louise.

He does. It takes some time to make these and get parts for them but its really amazing.
