I love these two...I don't really understand all the Lucy hate I've seen. Lucy was a pretty awesome character to me, but some people seem to think she's like this flawless, happy dream-girl who was just created to be Gru's girlfriend, when she really wasn't. She's pretty and bubbly and hyper, yes. But she's just as awesome as Gru to me. And sure, she could have used more character development story moments, but then again, so could Edith, and she's pretty awesome, too.
