Description EDIT: Part 2, by demand:
you know the drill, more hasty script stuff. This one's still truncated but more cohesive. I missed having Andy and Hector around.

a friend of mine lent me a fun novel to read (as opposed to eat, i guess) "Lamb", by Christopher Moore, is a damn funny story about the childhood of Christ as told by Joshua's (Jesus') childhood friend Levi who is called "Biff". I suddenly remembered drawing this exchange a few weeks ago and realized how similar Andy and Hector were to Joshua and Biff. Andy is ultimately bound for amazing things in his life, but hovering nearby and bearing the brunt of worldly concern is Hector, alternately cautioning and resenting and encouraging his friend. (Maybe Andy's surname "Fisher" was semi-prophetic...hmmm)

Anyways...I'm not exactly sure how it works for the female side of the species, but what Andy's going through mentally here is autobiographical in the sense that I think it's a fairly universal anxiety held by young men interested in older women... If you've dug through the gallery a few years back you already (sorta) know the answer to Andy's question.

I don't have to explain the title, right?

I'll make more "real" stuff soon, just wanted to share.

I find myself coming back to this often over the years. It really is a brilliant piece. I first read this when I was a virgin, I read it more through two relationships, I'm still reading it through my marriage. I can safely say that I have done this dance from all sides. It just... you say "I'll get back to 'real' stuff..." but fuck, man. This is some of the realest shit I've ever read.

You say a lot in your comments that you have these sketches and whatnot that you never post, that you feel like you spend too much time cleaning them up. You don't need that shit, man. You don't need to feel like it's not good enough. I've been re-reading this for six years and it still hits me like a truck. I don't know a higher praise than that.

Oh man...I've been at this awhile now!

All the raw material like this that I have is easy to make, and that's why whatever sense of craftsmanship I possess tells me "it can't be THAT easy. Pretty it up or edit it down or something."

Which is a little silly, I know. But thank you. After all this time, that's still encouraging

I ABSOLUTELY ADORE the realness and like, emotional sincerity of Andy. Its incredible that with so little (and by little I mean its not forced) 'movements' from Andy and his reactions to very realistic emotional things I can relate to a drawing. XD You have an incredible mind.

Lamb is a great story - I remember doing a rendition of it for Oral Interp. Good times... :3

Also - this story has really matured since I first found you. My first impression of it was that it felt like a gag-strip - all these incidents happening, but not really connected to each other, like looking into someone's daily life. But I can see a definite plot taking shape, especially in these "roughs," and it looks like a good one. Also worth mentioning is that you put a great deal of thought into your characters and how they interact, and the fact you're able to do so around a force of nature like Gogo and yet keep them distinct and entertaining, is nothing short of incredible.

In anyone else's hands, a character like Gogo would have become the sole focus, and everyone else would have faded into the background, making her ultimately a detriment to the story - a narrative black hole. She's obviously more than human, some would probably say "overpowered," but you balance her incredibly well with characters like Andy and Didi; people who keep her grounded and remind us that she can be caught off-guard or second-guessed, however little she'd want to admit it, so it works.

If, say, I had been writing this story, it would have probably collapsed long ago, but you have a strong enough grasp of storytelling and character that it's all meshing together perfectly.

For all that your art is awesome,
it's the personalities and interactions
of your characters that really strike a
chord with me

Hoping for more of these...

everytime you update with a quick comic that shows how your characters are with one and another it feels like i'm reading potential spoilers.

everytime you update with your mini comics i wonder if its part of the bigger thing, where does it fit in the bigger picture.

I LOVE the minicomics to death and this moment really shows something about andy we all suspected but didn't know for sure.

and now i'm more anxious then ever to see the complete thing some day XD
