they remembered sleeping on the forest floor, shivering and feverish in the freezing rain. their hollow tree did little to protect them from the water, and they would likely not survive the night.
as they drifted in and out of consciousness, footsteps approached; a masked face appeared in front of them. strong, warm paws wrapped around them, lifting them up and holding them close.
"You poor thing.. let's get you to the Auribell."
they were sure they dreamed it all, but they woke up safe and warm.
