best popstar poniI had no idea what I was doing when I was making the background, but it turned into something somehow. Pretty colors~
Really liking how this turned out though.
Decided to make this my profile picture-- it's about time I updated it. And I know what you're probably not thinking: "Vanilla, that's not Sweetie Belle you boosted monkey, do you hate her all of a sudden or something, what's wrong with you?"
And to that I say, "yes of course".
I just really like the way Rara looks, that's basically it.

This picture is pretty incredible. Everything about it really flows together well, giving it some emotion as opposed to a still image of Coloratura.
I can see that you really paid attention to the little details. The detail with the mane is really great, and you didn't compromise her complex mane style at all. The shading, both with the mane and in general, is spot-on. I especially like the bit of shadow behind Rara's outfit around the neck. It makes it seem like she's actually wearing the shirt, rather than just a painted design on her body.
While the background isn't tangible, it really compliments Rara and makes this piece feel dynamic. Honestly, I don't think a tangible background could convey the feeling as well. It makes her seem like she's "in the zone" and just really enjoying what she's doing.
The only thing that really sticks out to me that could be improved is that the eyes are uneven. While the bottom of her left eye (from her perspective) is rounded out, the bottom of her right eye angles off toward her mouth. The legs seem a little off too, but that may just be me.
Again, this picture just really draws me in. I can tell you're making a lot of progress when I see this, Vanilla.

Yeah, you're right about the eyes, and the hooves are probably a little off as well (Still need some practice on them).

I'm not very good a critiques but the only thing I would change would be to add a different background, but that depends on what you were looking for in the first place. I personally like a full background scene but I also know there are a lot of people out there who like to have something like this that's more open.

Yeah, I was actually going for that initially, but I couldn't seem to make it work. I need some more practice with those kind of backgrounds, but I agree with you.
