Description
It isn’t too early, or too late, and it is the height of summer. The day has an odd brightness to it; there isn’t a cloud in the sky, and yet the sun seems to be struggling to shine. A lone songbird flies by but not a single sound is made, their wings were hushed as were their voices, and their flights were brief and rushed like a desperate whisper. A warning that something wasn’t quite right.
It had been silent for too long; the breeze and the fields – they should have given substance to the open expanse… and yet it was dead, and felt so empty. Signs of life were growing scarce, apart from the obvious intrusion into nature: the barbed fence and its unaligned posts. They looked hastily assembled, or it might have been that they had been weathered with time.
Though what seemed more unsettling was a deliberate second ring of rough, tired looking barrier running around a rather desolate hut. It was captivating in its own little way. Not for any essence of beauty, but for its eerie stillness and its suffocating presence. Curiosity would have been welcome to any onlooker, but it was far from the first thing in mind.
Fear.
Fear that turns to terror when the first guttural screech swept the empty fields.

I don't remember where this place was, but I remember driving by and thinking `Jurassic Park three fukkers,` because I have an irrational fear of dinosaurs as well as an odd inclination towards them.
I shoulda' posted this sometime round Halloween though ||

I like this, the story with the photo has a very almost lovecraftian feel to it as you leave the cause of the fear open to the interpretation of the reader.
Doesn't hurt that it does in fact look like a Jurassic Park Compound. Dig it!

Holy Smokes indeed. If you can say it out loud without taking a breath you haven't got it.
