Description For the last little while I've been trying to get back into my modeling. At the same time I've been procrastinating and avoiding it. I figured I would get back into the groove by making some things I know. Thing I know best is my Mewblade, although this is actually her Chaos Mewblade form. (Also decided on doing Mewblade because I am so sick of seeing horrid, awful 3D Mewtwo and other Pokemon related work.) There are actually two models in this set. One is Mewblade, and then the other is Chaos Mewblade. Dubbed them the "gemini model" set because Chaos Mewblade was only a polygon and texture tweak of the Mewblade base (that model is located at this [link] ).

The models are high poly models at 24,071 tris, with way too many texture effect maps, despite having one 2048 texture map and another 1024 map for extras. I tried a lot of things I didn't before, including the suprisingly easy HDRi renders, Ray Tracing, layered eyes, and Blend Shape heads. Some of the old speed-ups for me proved to be absolute nightmares. Texturing was painful, and my favored Weighting/Rigging showed me exactly why all the animators I know hate it. After a while I was suprised Chaos posed at all. I was almost considering changing Mewblade's name to Mewbald, because the blades are nearly impossible to rig. I'm also a little disapointed that Chaos' shiny eyes and face don't make her facial expression obvious, but at least they function and she can move.

This is actually a 1024 x 768 image, and not much of a good wallpaper. You'll have to download for a larger view. Guess I'll have to render some better shots once Mewblade is mobile. Not really looking forward to animating them later...

Photoshop CS3, Maya 7.0 (and my o' so beautiful graphics card.)

I don't consider it to be the best since it was a really quick pose and render. Usually what I do is make sure I have proper cameras and lights set up to capture the character better. In her case I didn't do it since normally I do that once I'm truly rendering my work. I just was so ecstatic that I wanted a quick capture to show off. Not my best work, definitely more time consuming than some.

Chaos Mewblade is... interesting to me, but her appearance I find to be rather eerie. Then again, shiny is awesome and it attracts people, and if that's something that makes her appealing to you, then it's rather justified. Just hard to decide for myself if I like the shinyness of Chaos Mewblade over the more muscularly defined Mewblade.

I just simply think both of them are beautyful.

Ohhh........Cool! Nice new style approach.

How long have you done computer modeling?

I don't know if there is much of a style to it. The image that is reflecting off of her is basically just a white ground with a slightly grey sky. Makes her look kind of cell shaded, but in Maya that actual render looks kind of obvious.

I've done modeling for about 2 years now, on and off, not counting the stuff I did in highscool on 3D Studio Max.
