The second image I did for the portfolio reviews at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con, primarily intended for Wizards of the Coast. This is the one of the three that the WotC representative liked the most. He felt that it would read very well as a card image.Slivers are my second favorite type of creature in Magic: The Gathering (right behind Squirrels!) and Crystalline Sliver is one of my favorites. Being a sliver made of my two favorites color and granting all slivers the insanely powerful Shroud mechanic, its very much in line with my play style. So I put my own spin on the creature as an act of love.

It's my own version. A playmat was made at theΒ artistsofmagic.com website but I don't believe its in print or in stock anymore. It sure does get stolen and sold as 3rd party sliver tokens through ebay and etsy a whole lot though, those thieving bastards.

I was about to ask if I could 3D model this design to use in a game...I see it's just your art and not your design though; I guess I have to come up with something else similar-ish but not the same. Thanks for turning me onto this look, though.

BTW, shroud isn't insanely powerful as it half cripples your own deck if you're using a sliver deck.

This is awesome dude. Actually, it's so awesome that there are people on Ebay using this art with the bottom 5% of the image and your sig chopped off on playmats they sell. Not sure if you're okay with that, but just letting you know.

OMG this is absolutely fanTastic. I amΒ a huge sliver fan and Crystalline Sliver is certainly quite exceptional among slivers. And his just looks amazing.

Wizards changed slivers into a bunch of generic humanoids for the 2014 set because they said that there weren't enough new designs they could come up with... next thing I know they'll start trying to sell DVD rewinders.

Actually, what I drew is EXACTLY the problem they were talking about. What did I do to the sliver? I made it crystalline. Otherwise, there's nothing terribly exciting about it other than it looks damned cool, but its still just another sliver. Take the time to actually go through and look at all the slivers and its variations on a theme. This sliver looks like lava, this one like a leaf, this one has gemstones in its hide, this one has spines coming out of it, this one looks like its decaying, and so on; but at its core it just the same model with some sort of theme tacked onto it. Now, that said: I DON'T MIND THIS. I love slivers, they're great. But I totally see their point of view and I even support it.
Besides, lots of great story purposes for why they look different from the ones we have seen previously.

Wow, what a great job! I like how the background meshes so well with the sliver, nice choice on the design! I think this would do excellent as the design for a reprint of the creature.

This's amazing artwork! I love it! I recently acquired Magic Set Editor and started creating my own custom cards and even remaking cards with different artwork, I was wondering if I could use this artwork for a Crystalline Sliver of my own?

Frankly, I do believe the game is worth some exploration just because the art and fantasy flavor is quite satisfying beyond the game itself being really great.

i LOVE THIS ART. it shows the protection of shroud. and thats hard to do. there is something i would like to ask you something tho. as you can see on my picture i make my own sets AND i make new cards look old. please may i use this art as a old version of Crystalline Sliver your name will be on the card and i will link this art to the card. but whatever your answer is this ART IS THE BOMB.
