Description After completing the Pokecember challenge I really wanted to get into drawing big cats again, and after rewatching a very interesting series of videos on YouTube I just had to draw some cheetahs. (Here's the link for those who are interested, I highly recommend watching it)

So yeah, a head study to begin with! The first two on the top were heavily referenced, while the ones on the bottom are more or less drawn while trying to "cheat" as little as possible.ย
I also put in a nicer background instead of boring old gray, so yay, I guess.

Constructive criticism is welcome!

Just a small heads up, I'll be on vacation for a week starting tomorrow, so I won't be able to draw, and replies might be delayed.ย

Aaawyeeaaah, unten links find ich am besten! Der Blick ist unheimlich niedlich, und mit den weichen Schatten siehts auch richtig gut aus. Die Schnurrhaare gefallen mir auch sehr

Alright! Your big cats are always awesome. I love the top right one, well, all of them really. The lighting, and the subtle color gradient in the fur looks amazing. I'll have to watch that video because of the title alone.

Also, referencing is far from cheating in my opinion! It's all I ever hear from art teachers (well, online ones anyways). Reference is honestly the most powerful tool you have for learning how to draw something accurately. But of course, I see the point in going without reference as well. Drawing from imagination is a powerful tool in and of itself. And you seem to do that quite well here. My only criticism is that the lines can make certain parts look unnecessarily muddy or busy, like in the ears. But overall you've certainly nailed that fur texture. And of course, the anatomy is great.

Enjoy your vacation!

Thanks! I know the referencing isn't a bad thing, but the thing is that one day, I want to be able to just sit down and draw a good looking big cat without any reference, just because I feel like it. I'm far from being able to do that right now, but that's my ultimate goal.ย

As for the "lines", I'm also not really happy how I handled the long fur in the ears. The black part is supposed to be where the ear canal starts, but I'll have to find a better way to show that and make it clearer.

Thank you!
