It looks like Ava was practicing some earth magic but accidentally lost control of the pebble she was manipulating. I'm really sorry, Rune! She didn't mean to snipe you down!

Lorewise, it is very hindering to learn so much magic. My guess is that if Ava were to try and learn the higher levels of magic she wouldn't be able to handle it. One reason being that she's not an Imp and the second reason being she doesn't have a third eye... yet. It's hard just to learn all four basic as well so although she is starting out strong now, she's going to learn that her goals aren't so easily reached.
So to answer your question, she has no plans to learn the higher forms of magic at this current moment which is why she has the three earrings. She's more focused on the basic four.
