This is a piece that i was working on for =Alphatude which he has named "false dawn"This is a combination of photomanip and digital painting

thank you....this was a hard piece to complete as it was a commissioned piece and the guy who commissioned it had very specific ideas in mind for it! but we both still wanted the piece to feel like my style!

hahah! you did indeed!!! that was a very hard explosion to paint, let me tell you!! the original image that i found was such low quality and so pixelated that it must have been printed out of a newspaper! did you paint yours too?? or did you manage to find a better image??? you've put some very nice clouds around the base as well!!

i found the image by googling "explosion", hehe.. it was the second one to come up. it was a decent enough resolution for my purposes so i just used it as is.
i didn't even realize you had painted it, wow! even more impressive that way :-D

oh damn! that's lucky! i never thought to look up explosions! i looked up mushroom cloud...yeah, i used painter IX and carefully painted over the original crappy photo! made a few minor changes so that the explosion worked for my piece and then imported it into photoshop and added a few final touches to the paint job (like the smoke around the column) so that it blended seemlessly! it was the smoke cloud at the bottom that was the hardest part to get right!!

lol...hmmm..good question! i've got an exam coming up on monday which i haven't even started preparing for.....so there certainly won't be any artwork this week! lol! i haven't even had the time to pick up my camera in ages! i will be so glad when school is finished in October...it just seems so far away! 4 essays to do between then and now....ack!

i did take some time away last week and went up to manchester england...and it was wonderful to get away!! the husband's b-day was last week and mine is this week so we had a nice time away..and while i was at it, i did a bit of shopping too! LOL
.now of course i'm behind in everything so i've got to get caught up! argh! and how are you faring????

I'm coming up on the end of a five day weekend...and I'm feeling sorry for myself because I have to go back to work tomorrow, and won't be able to take off any more time for a while...never mind that, as you mentioned, I'll be behind in everything...but nevertheless, I'm doing well. And will be even better when my monitor comes back! (Supposedly they shipped it yesterday...so I should get it by Friday!

oh yes! i always dread the realisation that i'm running out of holiday days to take from work! we don't have another bank holiday here until august, and then nothing until christmas!!! that's always the long slow part of the year! so this year, i'm saving up some of my holidays so that i can do something later....

i've not had much time for art lately, but i've been playing around using "calculations" to convert some of my holiday photos into black and white....all these years and i've never touched the calculations because i didn't have a clue what they were for or what they did, but my most recent digital photo magazine had a good tutorial on them and they make some pretty smashing conversions! i've also been having a bit of a play with some cross processing simulations....i think i'm going to finally buy a macro lens....i should be getting some little bits of money here and there for my birthday, and i've had my mind set on getting one for a while now.....so hopefully soon i'll be playing with a new lens! that always kicks my creativity into gear! lol...
anyways, at least it's thursday, so it's nearly the weekend again, so you won't be working for long
