Why thank you, I do like this one in the thumb, you can see the shapes unlike some of my others..

You create an inviornment in which I'd to live.
Balanced, wonderfully clear detail and equally quiet
places in which to rest. The tension between "hectic
and calm" is splendid. Very nice work, laddy!

Now, now of all people to think they don't create their own world it must be you. How many hours do you create art, my friend? That's a lot more time than most people get to spend in their own world. We are indeed luckier
than most, I think.

I have to say I love this style, it looks so... cool. Not exactly the word I was looking for, but I can't find it. I like the picture a lot, though

With only a glance it doesn't seem that great, but the exquisite detail is awesome. So many facets you could lok at it four hours, this is the same for all your Linear art.

Have you ever tohught about screen printing any of these?

Veganvictim In reply to CraigInATin [2006-01-04 13:50:51 +0000 UTC]

i wouldn't know where to begin with screen printing mate - no idea at all, plus i don't have access to the facilities to screen print either!

you know I'm well qualified for this : ) To the point--clean. It's hard to make advanced comments on this since it is your style developing. As you continue to do abstracts such as this your drawings will take on more and more forms as you go. I could tel you what I'd do--but that is me and I've been doing a certain form of pen and ink for many years---it developed over time just as yours will if you continue in this.
I like it. Its a nice design and a pleasure to look at.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Veganvictim In reply to Stepbeyond [2005-12-29 18:45:52 +0000 UTC]

yeah that's the thing about photo's you can say edit the contrast or change this and alter that - but with abstracts you can;t really comment much - ella did and it led onto this style appearing so it must be do-able

it won;t be long before i change this style either i think

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Stepbeyond In reply to Veganvictim [2005-12-30 09:30:35 +0000 UTC]

oh yes--it will change. Of course. It works the same nomatter what form of art you're in. If i were to show you the last ten yrs of doodling--you's see where my style came from. It took about ten yrs of doodling and seeing everything differently that I am where I am now. From what I've seen it's a style born out of me. I'm happy about that. Since I never studied any artists, or looked through books---had no internet--basically wasn't influenced at all by other artists. Everything I did was in my imagination--no images I'd seen from art books--painters ever entered my mind. Of course everything around us I saw--but not abstract artists--sureal--etc-etc. Didn't even know the words. So, in that way I'm glad I didn't formally study art---the drawings I've created would've never been created. I'm positive of that.

firstly you need to add paragraphs to your replies lol - i got lost a few times!

yeah i never studied art past the age of 13, never went to galleries, studied artists work anything like that either - my art is a constant learning curve - changing all the time

Stepbeyond In reply to Veganvictim [2005-12-31 06:56:38 +0000 UTC]

paragraphs--yes--I know. Some of my messages can get just a bit wordy.

Stepbeyond In reply to Veganvictim [2005-12-31 06:51:15 +0000 UTC]

yep--then you know. You realize with all the arts the learning or refining never ends. Actually, isn't it like that with most things?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Veganvictim In reply to Stepbeyond [2005-12-31 13:36:45 +0000 UTC]

it's a constant learning cycle - life

Stepbeyond In reply to Veganvictim [2006-01-01 06:50:48 +0000 UTC]

sure is. I thought I knew just about everything (oh so wise) at 18-21. The older I get the more I realize how much I don't know. lol.
Indeed--it's a lifetime deal.

I think this just might be your best yet!!!

I love the structure you've added to this one.....maybe the others had it, but i hadn't noticed. However, the spiral adds so much ( i love spirals). Even though you've been dipping into colours with these, black and white I think still might be the most effective. Maybe some red???? (just red)....as in black, white & red. You can never go wrong with those colours. THey have such an impact together. The two shades, with vibrant red.

(just like my bruce lee poster now that i think of it.)

anyway, kudos buddy!!!

you must be freaking psychic - i was thinking about colouring this - but not in red - in that nice lime green - altho i may leave it for the next one

black white and red go very very well together - you;re right

thanks for the fav too!

DragonTreasureArt [2005-12-28 13:10:39 +0000 UTC]

So rockin'!!! This is really unique, I love the mad spiral effect with the raindrop shapes. It really seems like you're getting bolder with using larger areas of dark shading. There is a real boldness about this entire image. Really great stuff mate. I also really like the fact it is seems to be held within an invisible border, that works really effectively.

.... Why do you want to keep your gallery to 42 images? I'm slightly confused about that bit....

Veganvictim In reply to DragonTreasureArt [2005-12-29 21:00:52 +0000 UTC]

don;t ask about the 42 - it was a mad schitzo moment - i just had a clear out is all

thanks for that pixie!! i try to be bold!!

i love your artwork, you've mastered the balance between light and dark.
all of your pieces possess their own balance and flow; complex symmetry.
this is so beautiful, definitely a shell going on there...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Veganvictim In reply to lauraborealisis [2005-12-28 11:42:24 +0000 UTC]

i had it in mind when drawing but then it went awry - the light dark balance has to be credited to a friend of mine who showed me that my art is about more than what it was previously and i saw the light

...this looks a lot like the things I saw when I had food poisoning. Very trippy.

I like the use of negative space and relative motion. And the variation in style within the drawing itself.
*babbles on for a bit*

Good work, quite groovy.

thanks Erik!

Thinking that helps me sleep at night.
