This is an image I had in my mind of what I thought happened during the mysterious three years when Vegeta discovered he had become a father for the first time. My theory is that Bulma became pregnant with Trunks before Vegeta left to train in outer space to become a super Saiyan. Vegeta left Bulma without either of them knowing that she was pregnant, and she found out and gave birth to Trunks all while Vegeta was gone. When Vegeta comes back after nine or ten months of training as a Super Saiyan, he discovers his son sleeping peacefully in his crib. Vegeta is shocked and bewildered to find he is a father and that his Super Saiyan genes stir so softly before him. Bulma watches at the door mysteriously and intimately confirming the intense emotion born throughout the moment. This is actually a scene from my fanfiction. ^^
