I've been wanting to create a Na'vi OC for a while now, and I finally finished! It took me about a week, but I'm actually really happy with the result. Compared with my first attempt at turning someone into a Na'vi this one is awesome (I don't mean to brag, I'm just really excited about it).

About the Yerik Clan: The Yerik People respect and emulate the yerik, or hexapede, and because of this they are swifter and more agile than most Na'vi. They make their homes out of long grass and mud, creating huts that they position over the plain, but they also have a Hometree much like the Omaticaya People where they gather and reside in times of danger, since their huts are out in the open. They admire swiftness and nimbleness, and also have a love for music and dance.

Rite of passage: Each Na'vi clan has a test that every young hunter must pass in order to become one of the People. The Yerik People must travel upriver to where the hexapedes gather to compete for mates, the only time the hexapede is a dangerous creature. Here the young hunter must select a hexapede, catch it and form tsaheylu with it. With their new connection the hunter must live among the herd for a month, traveling with them and being one of them while the Na'vi from the hunter's Clan watch. When the month is up, the hunter must kill the hexapede they bonded with and make something with its skin, whether it be arm or leg bands, a cloak, or anything else the hunter finds useful and meaningful to them; doing this ensure that the hexapede they bonded with becomes a part of them, and once they don the clothing article made from the animal the hunter will never take it off. Once this is done the hunter becomes part of the People.

About Swyria: Born to Yerik's best hunters, Swyria is quick both in the forest and out on the plains. At 13 years old she is already living up to her parents' name and status within the Clan as a remarkable huntress. Like all Na'vi she has a deep respect and love for nature and for Eywa and prays to their deity daily. She loves going off on her own and spends much time alone in the forest where she feels she can better connect to nature. Swyria has many friends among the People, but she also has animal friends, mainly hexapedes and even a few viperwolves (they're not exactly friends but they share a mutual respect for each other and she sometimes plays with their cubs), due to them being her spirit animal (gained by doing the Dream Hunt). She also possesses a high level of curiosity and often goes where she is not supposed to. She has in the past spied on the Skypeople, fascinated by their ways. Her clan partook in the Battle for the Tree of Souls and while she did not as she was too young, Swyria prayed to Eywa for her People's safe return. While some perished, her parents made it back safetly.

Current status: Waiting to participate in the rite of passage to become part of the People. She is excited but nervous; since the hexapede is her spirit animal and she has hexapede friends, Swyria feels reluctant to form a bond and then kill the animal. But she will do it because it is the Way, and she knows she will forever honor that animal.
