I'd guess this is based on the 'World's Ugliest Dog' champion, Sam. (Although the painting almost looks pretty compared to him)

Lol, I just remembered one time during a DnD campaign, My dad had been describing a werewolf, and I thought it was a gnoll.
It didn't end well. I managed to critical hit it, rending it's torso open. And than it just kinda healed. ^_^;
Our next several adventures were to gather enough money to hire a cleric.
