Description My paternal grandparents Jan and Jaroslava. They were never in love. He liked her beauty and she was uneducated and poor, thus he seemed a good match. They had two sons and remained together for fifty years (still going), but no, there was no love and my grandma suffered emotionaly a lot during the years.

One could never tell juding by this beautiful photo....

They look so beautiful together,it's such a tragedy they didn't love each other.

sad, but well... that's life, sometimes such things happen that people marry without love.
I, personally, am so hopeless that I would ever find a true love that sometimes, not very often but still, I think that if I ever had a chance of arranged marriage, and I could check if the man would be good to me etc etc (well you can never tell, sadly), I think I might have thought about forming such union with someone that I don't love.
But then again, love must be such a beautiful thing...

The modern arranged marriage isn't so bad. your family hires a matchmaker who gets to know you, then tries to find the best match for you, and you are absolutely free to turn it down. Don't laugh, but I actually learned about this from a Woman's World magazine when I was in high school. This young American woman was very annoyed with her family's traditions, but she finally agreed to at least meet the young man their matchmaker had found for her. The young man wasn't too thrilled with being matched, either. Alas and alack, they liked each other. They hid it for a while before effectively (and partially begrudgingly, I'm sure) saying to their families, "You done good. This will work."

I am in the same sitation as you (except I donΒ΄t look good at all)... In fact, I would rather build a marriage on friendship and respect then on "just love". It must be beautiful, but it doesnΒ΄t ensure happiness.

We're often a poor judge of our own worth.
