Reads Right to Left like the original Japanese Manga!

Battler, I don't think you're in Kansas anymore. Or Rokkenjima. Whatever. (Not that I expect him to believe me. This IS Battler we're talking about).

Was kinda dreading this page but it came out much nicer than I anticipated. Hooray. AND it's not a whole month late either. Whoo!

LESSON TIME!!!!

"Karma, what is this, I can't read the writing on that funky door!" That's alright, it'll get explained next page. Battler can't read it either!

The broken gate door is actually a reference to something mentioned later in Dante's Inferno. Later on in the poem, Dante and Virgil come across a locked gate that some enemies won't let them through. Virgil calls for help and says that "This insolence of theirs is nothing new; / they showed it once before, at another gate. / It still stands open without lock or bolt, " referencing Hell's gate. It's never specified if it's just wrenched open or broken open, so I went with this interpretation.

Credit to as always for the lovely brushes that made the textures here Also credit to Robert and Jean Hollander's translation of the Inferno, which is where i pulled that quote from.

It's been a while since I've read through this particular section of Inferno, but I believe it's implied that the door was once closed by the denizens of Hell (in defiance or insolence), and it was broken open by God's followers. It may have also been Christ himself that broke the door open when he left Hell after being crucified, since if I recall correctly his resurrection also causes a number of bridges to be destroyed farther down in the deeper circles of Hell. But I don't recall if it was specifically Jesus that broke open this door, or just God's followers in general (angels, etc).

Battler, before you do anything stupid, read Dante's Inferno. You'll thank me later.

Battler, Battler, Battler... when are you going to learn to recognize when you are transported into a realm of magic?
