Description Hizashi and Shouta in a scene from the story "Come Right Back" by StarySky and zombiesam on Archive of Our Own. A traitor Aizawa fic with lots of angst/hurt/comfort/EraserMic. Scene takes place in chapter 5: Hizashi begs Shouta to tell him why Shouta betrayed UA and became a villain. Starts out as an argument then goes in a...different direction.

Lyrics from the song "The Rest of My Life" by Less Than Jake. I felt like the song fits for Shouta in the story.

Story excerpt included with author permission:

“Shouta. Look at me, man. Please, please look at me. If someone is hurting you - if someone is forcing you to do all this crazy stuff - you have to tell me. We can tell All Might, we can go to the police, or — “

“No!” Shouta barks. He tears his face away, his teeth clenched tightly together. “No,” he repeats. “No, you don’t understand. You don't. I can’t do that. You can’t do that. Nobody can help me, Hizashi. This is my problem to deal with. Not yours or anybody else’s! You can't let anyone hear you say shit like that. You can't!"

Hizashi shakes his head, refusing to back down. His hands are still up from where he was holding Shouta’s face, and he slowly moves forward to cup his face once again, begging for him to just look at him; to force him to understand that Hizashi would do anything to help. Their faces are inches apart, but Shouta still feels miles away.

“You should know me well enough by now,” Hizashi says hoarsely, “that I’m not going to sit back and just accept that as an answer.”

Shouta looks at him again. For a moment...for a brief, brief moment...his expression softens. Recognition flashes across his blank, empty eyes; in that second, Hizashi swears Shouta truly sees him again. In that second, the two of them are children once more. They’re teenagers, fighting for their dreams and the futures of so many around them. They’re graduates. They’re inseparable friends. They’re in love.

Hizashi wants to forget all of this. He wants things to be okay again. He wants that softness in Shouta’s eyes to stay. He wants those eyes to trust him again.

Silent, Shouta cautiously lifts a stiff hand and places it over Hizashi’s hand still cradling Shouta’s face in his palms. They both lean forward, and their foreheads gently press together, just like the night before. The only thing Hizashi can hear is the thudding of his own, frantic pulse in his ears and Shouta’s uneven breathing. His eyes wander down to Shouta’s mouth, and Shouta’s eyes do the same...
