Description Venice (Italy)

The carnival, with its attendant tradition of mask-wearing, has existed in some form or another since the 13th century. The masks themselves - along with the traditional bauto (hood and cape), tabarro (cloak) and tricorn hat - were favoured because they conferred complete anonymity on their wearers.

Every year the event is inspired by a new theme. Last year's edition, Venetian Carneval: Mask Parade and Events in Theatre, celebrated the city itself, from its theatres to its people, while this year's topic is yet to be announced.

Really nice rich, scarlet tones in this one. Also, I love the central emphasis on white; it's not glaring white or too much white, the whole color scheme fits nicely. Good still life work on this series.
