Description
Before Zira's pride was exiled from the Pridelands, Tisha and her small pride lived in relative peace in the Outlands. Having left their war-torn homeland, the Badlands Kingdom, Tisha knew it was her responsibility to teach her daughter, Kasi, about the destructive power that lurked inside her.

In the privacy of their den, under the blaze of the sun, when Sunblood power was at its strongest, Tisha summoned fire into her paw. With unbridles enthusiasm, Kasi gazed headlong into the ball of conflagration, enthralled by her mother's power. "This is Lady Mawu's gift to us...as well as a curse..."

"A curse?" Kasi looked up a her mother. "Why a curse?"

"I have told you how I got my scars haven't I?"

Kasi nodded. "Yeah. From battle with other Sunbloods."

"But there are also some that were self-inflicted." Tisha grimaced. "Fire is fierce and dangerous, Kasi. This power was never meant to be used frivolously. For the consequence...is pain. Agonizing pain."

Kasi made a face. "You're not in pain now."

Tisha sighed and absorbed the flames back into her soul. "That is because I've trained for many seasons to master my power."

"So if you train me--"

"No."

"Why not!?"

Tisha looked away, eyeing a lizard attempting to sunbath on a rock. "...It is for your own good."

Kasi twisted around to stand in front of the ex-lieutenant. "Then what's the point of showing me? Of telling me stories of home? Of Daddy?! Didn't you say I looked just like him?" Like jaws around a beating heart, Tisha's heart clenched. "That he was proud to have me for a daughter? Well! I want to honor his memory! You and Daddy were members of the Flame Brigade. And I wanna be one too!"

"Kasi..." Tisha curled her paw around her daughter's small body and hugged her close. "...I want you to live a nice, long and happy life. Make friends. Be a stalwart huntress. Take care of yourself and your family. You do not need your powers to honor your father's memory. You'll honor him by living well. That's all."

Kasi frowned into her mother's solid and fluffy chest, dissatisfied. "...Fine. I'll drop it for now. But I want a story for good behavior!"

Tisha chuckled. "Whatever you want, my little quicksilver."
