would it be possible to get you to post a picture of your quiver? I am very curious about it.

I love seeing shots of this garb, you've done an incredible job of putting together a kit that is both very detailed, but also strongly grounded in historical as well as geographical accuracy. Really impressive work!

Thanks! I'm just now in the process of renewing this set (new steel lamellar armor, tunic, belt etc.). It will be a while before you guys get to see the finished kit though. These things take time.

That will be cool to see. You know, even though there's some doubt about leather lamellar as historically accurate, from a visual perspective it makes a great contrast with the chainmaille. And I'm still a bit uncertain about the accuracy. We know that leather was used in armor during that period, and metal would have been much more expensive than leather, and leather is harder to preserve, so I'm suspecting there was a greater range of uses that we have historical proof for.

You are absolutely right!
I would not say that leather lamellar is representative for a viking warrior. Actually I would not even say that steel lameller is repressentative to viking age. We have a few finds from Birka, but that is all we have. Considering the location of the find site it is likely that the find is a result of the extensive trade with the east (which was concentrated to Birka in MΓ€laren, Uppland). This project is about trying to create the look of a viking warrior from the area around lake MΓ€laren, and futher more a person that had strong connections with the east.

That's one of the things I really like about what you've been doing: it's so historically grounded. I studied history at the university, so I suppose I'm biased. I'd think that if leather armors were used they'd be a fairly simple design, overall, but there's been some fascinating archeological finds that include lamellars (or fragments therof) I am looking forward to seeing where this all goes!
