Description

Latest costume commission I finished.

This was completed as few weeks ago, just managed to get my lazy ass to upload it.

Russia from Axis Powers Hetalia, a webcomic/Anime that's five minutes long per episode. For those who don't know what it is, it's a cute satire of WW2 where the countries are represented as a stereotypical person you would find in that particular country. The series is meant to get young people interested in history without being extremely violent and more mature. Though the series focuses more on Italy and how it is the weakest country and yet use to be a powerful nation long ago.

Russia here was commissioned by my good friend in time for Otakon 2009. Everything was made, including the star badge made from scupley, red felt and white ribbon with a patch star on top with the ends spray painted gold.

Displayed on my step-mom's dresser dummy as I do not own one, can't afford one, and have no room for one.

Thanks!

The fabric should of been a khaki colored medium weight Twill. I like using twill as it holds up well to conventions and the colors are vibrant even after a few washings. I don't know if this particular color is still available but I purchased this fabric at Fabric.com years back.

Do you have the sewing pattern for this? I've been planning on making my own and I'm trying to hunt one down.

No sorry, this was made using a custom pattern program to the original customer's size so after this was made, I tossed the pattern away. I'm sure if you look up in overcoats you can find a pattern you can use as a base and edit the pattern till it becomes the outfit you need.

This is amazing!!

Around what price would it cost to commission just the coat? (I want to cosplay Russia, but don't think i could make the coat and I'm not sure if I would be better off commissioning it or just buying it online)

Thanks!

Unfortunately I don't commission out costumes of copyrighted characters anymore as I have moved my focus on fursuits, Steampunk, and LARP style outfits. I could run the risk of getting in trouble later on in years as I hope to make my hobby a job if I was to take on a licensed character I do not have permission for.

Wow that came out really accurate looking! Are there buttons or something under the arrow clasps to hold it closed?

VenHybrid In reply to Threnodi [2010-07-04 22:30:42 +0000 UTC]

Velcro dots on both ends of the arrow clasps I hand sewed in as well as a strip of Velcro down the front flap to hold it down in place.

May i ask how didi you make it i want to make One???

VenHybrid In reply to link-o [2009-10-08 22:43:06 +0000 UTC]

I had asked for the client's measurements and used a pattern making program my step-mom owns to create as close as I can to the original design. Then I made out the custom patterns, ordered the fabric and edit to see fit until you see the end result.

Thanks ^^. It's a cute series that's not mainstream but not something that will bore you. I don't watch anime much anymore but watching this series is just too cute not to pass up.
