Another render test of my F-58...This F-58 from Elmendorf AFB aircraft belongs to the 11th Air Force and is out on patrol at dawn. Armed with two ultra long ranged (600 mile) AIM-180 Viper air to air missiles and 8 AIM-182 ALRAAM long ranged (120 mile) air to air missile externally. An additional 12 AIM-182 are carried inside (a mix of long range and short range versions). Anyone attempting to intrude on North American air space would get a nasty surprise...

I think that the original rapier [link] may have more in common with this guy it can leave orbit its own but thats probably the only difference aside from size

Ah.
Yeah, F-58 is strictly sub-orbital without any boost. It just can't achieve the mass-fraction required to enter LEO on internal fuel alone. Then again I see F-58 as a 2030 6th gen fighter, so I pretty much stuck to tech I'd imagine would be mature by then.

yes the Rapier 7th gen had a 6th gen cousin that had similar to the Hammer called the scimitar it could enter LEO with the aid of boosters

Ah, well I consider F-58 to be a 6.5 gen fighter, designed to blend extremely high atmospheric performance with the ability to enter low earth orbit for short periods of time. Although, it relies heavily on AWACS/satellite support since it's primary weapon, my AIM-180 Viper, far exceeds the range of the F-58's own radar (600 miles vs 250 miles).

I see well the Super rapier is a 7.5 and the Saber that replaces it is 8th gen all space fighter in hte UEA are named after swords the 1st gen star fighter capable of atmoshperic flight was the Mig-61 broadsword [link] however its so heavily armed its not much of a figther while flying in the atmosphere
