Description What makes a good villain? Sorcery, witchcraft, voodoo magic, disguises, transformations, clothes/accessories, number of people you hurt/kill?
The answer is: leaving a lasting impression.

1. Scar
Scar is the best because no moment in the Disney universe has the tragic impact of the death of Mufasa. With nothing but simple manipulation and only one murder, Scar solidifies his villain status because nothing tops the betrayal of a family member. Thirst for power, witty elegance, sarcastic attitude, dictatorship, all leading to an epic battle where he is thrown of the peak of Pride Rock and eaten by his army of hyenas.
He has all the inhumane characteristics that make him extraordinary and ironically he is the only animal antagonist on list. Plus, he has one of the best songs, “Be Prepared”.

2. The Queen
Disney’s first villain, Queen Grimhilde. She is the pioneer for all the tricks used by every typical villain. I was six when I first watched Snow White and I was absolutely terrified by the scene when she turns in the old hag. She is simply chilling when she delivers one my favorite quotes:
“Mummy dust, to make me old, To shroud my clothes, the black of night, To age my voice, an old hag's cackle, To whiten my hair, a scream of fright, A blast of wind to fan my hate, A thunderbolt to mix it well, Now, begin thy magic spell.”
She is memorable for conjuring the most iconic of all fairytale items, the poison apple. Beautiful, vain, cruel, and the original queen/evil step mother/wicked witch. She will forever remain the fairest of them all…among villains at least.

3. Maleficent
Evil by definition, and the self-proclaimed “Mistress of All Evil”, she is what makes Sleeping Beauty unforgettable. I just wish she had a more profound motive. Money, power, revenge, youth, love…nope! All this because she didn’t get invited to a christening party? But that’s what makes her the epitome of evil for no good reason.
She teleports via her signature green flames and of course let’s not forget that she turns into one vicious dragon. Maleficent is downright bad-ass!

4. Hades
Hades is the best scene stealer. Like Scar, Hades is the ruthless uncle out to get his nephew. Hades tries for 18 years; you have to give him credit for his perseverance. Despite being the king of the underworld and having the power to kill any mortal he wants, Hades makes deals with them. He not only has the hero’s girl working for him but he even manages to kill her in the process.
But what sets Hades apart is the fact that he is absolutely hilarious! He’s immortal, he floats, he has countless monsters at his disposal, and adorable minions to help him. Hades is the funniest, most entertaining villain ever. Just plain awesome and literally on fire!
And, he just happens to friends with the next guy…

5. Jafar
First off he is the only villain to make out with the heroine; and in front of the hero too. His holds Jasmine captive in what is practically the Disney version of slave-Leia scene. Calm, collected, calculating, sardonic but still somewhat laughable, Jafar is still pretty sinister.

6. Frollo
Frollo brings a new dimension to being a villain: corruption. Evil is merely the dualistic opposite of good, corruption is moral impurity. Frollo is tragic because he isn’t trying to be the bad guy. “Hellfire” beautifully illustrates the struggle between his self righteousness and carnal desires. Frollo doesn’t have any magical powers but he uses a greater weapon: religion. For being so tormented, utilizing faith to persecute gypsies, manipulating a town into chaos basically because Esmeralda refused him, and so many more reasons, Frollo is a great but also a real villain.

7. Ursula
Not just a witch, but a fat half octopus sea witch. I have to say that I think Ursula is the ugliest of all villains. (Yet I think Vanessa is much hotter than Ariel). The creepiest thing she does is tell Ariel the importance of body language.
She likes making deals with the “Poor Unfortunate Souls”, like Hades. She hypnotizes Eric via Ariel’s voice and nearly succeeds in marrying him. Although short lived, she does manage to take the crown and trident. And then in true villain fashion, she grows to Kraken size and gets impaled by a ship. Vengeful, hideous, and unwavering; Ursula is one of the most frightening villains.

8. Shan-Yu
A trained cold blooded murderer, commander of the Han army, and he managed to survive an avalanche. In terms of shear numbers, Shan-Yu has killed the most. What Shan-Yu lacks in no supernatural power (like Frollo), he makes up with pure combat skill. Shan-Yu has to be one of the strongest in terms brute strength. And Maleficent may have a pet raven; he has a falcon at his disposal.
The line “How many men does it take to deliver a message?” speaks volumes about his ruthlessness. Another nuance is when he orders the emperor to bow to him. Power is not enough for him, this killer wants humiliation. Shan-Yu is one grim, vile, emotionless, villain who literally does not know the meaning of mercy.

9. Dr. Facilier
Suave, charming, sadistic and he has friends on the over side. He is a perfect mixture of Hades, Ursula, and Jafar with his own brand of style and charisma. Whatever he does, Dr. Facilier does with flare.

10. Yzma
Not really much of villain, more of a frienemy. But I just love her too much to not put her on the list. Scary beyond all reason and lovably whimsical. She has a “secret lab” complete with roller-coaster and a “wrong lever” that feds you to the gator. Only Yzma have the despicably complicated mind necessary to take over an empire.

I have to pretty much agree with you there, though in terms of power, Hades is the most dangerous, being a God, ergo, immortal, and while not all powerful, pretty damn strong.  In terms of brains, either Hades, who planned a lot, or most likely Scar, who not only killed Mufasa on screen but traumatized Simba, a kid at the time, turned a bunch of slack jawed Hyneas into a dangerous army and WON for at least 10 years, plus he's a master manipulator, good at rolling with the punches, and a lion.

Isen-Vinter In reply to tonystardreamer [2013-08-01 09:18:54 +0000 UTC]

well he was ONE of the most evil in my childhood...Scar will forever be first place...the utter betrayal as he killed his brother and the double meaning of his last words to him as he lets him fall to his death...*shivers*

he is...as far as i can remember the only active kings-murderer....that has to stand for something XD

but shan-yu more than deserves the second place...its a close rating...when only taking human villians into the count than shan-yu would be first ^^

Sorry, it's been so long since I watched that movie.

Isen-Vinter In reply to tonystardreamer [2013-08-03 22:06:36 +0000 UTC]

well maybe double meaning was a bit strong...

but i always (well maybe not as a child) saw scar's saying: long live the king!

as not only the death sentence of the old king, seeing how in old movies its always like : the king is dead....long live the king (the new one) but also as Simbas death sentence since Scar puts himself with this one sentence as the ascendent to the throne. Competition is not wanted...

does that make sense...i swear it did in my head^^°

oi thats a tricky one.....lets keep those who are pushed into the evil position out (those like Dr.Octopus and Loki)

so just evil,evil...lets see...count monsters? then i think it would be Mr. Boogey from sinsister

if monster dont count...theeen probably the Jocker from Batman the dark knight ->"some people just want to see the world burn"

whats your favorite villian?

tonystardreamer In reply to Isen-Vinter [2013-08-05 21:03:57 +0000 UTC]

Well with me I have to different types of favorite villain; the type I like because they're awesome and the type I LOATH.

Out of the type I loath, probably the general from Avatar, I really hated him. There was also this rouge Jedi in the TV show Star Wars the Clone Wars that killed off a lot of my favorite characters, I really hated him as well.

Out of the ones I think are awesome; either General Grievous or Shen(from kung fu panda). That's it, the moment I try to remember some of my favorite villains my mind goes blank.

I mainly like my villains to be cunning, smart and brilliant yet still be able to put up a great fight.

Isen-Vinter In reply to tonystardreamer [2013-08-05 21:33:11 +0000 UTC]

oi i never saw kung fu panda...kinda went over my head Q_Q

and i am more of a star treck and less of a star wars fan^^° so i am no use in that department either T^T

och the general in avatar was such a douche but who i liked even less was the buisness dude since HE had the control of every military happening and stuff...HE is the real asshole in this story...the general may have been a beeing without empathy but the buisness dude was the one who used him for his own sick gain and money grabbing...without him the whole war thing would never happend.

gosh i loath buisness dude...>.<

well guess i went with the creepy evil...mr. boogey is the horror personifide nothing to admire there...just to fear ^^°

and jocker...he has brains thats for sure and his empathy is just below zero soooo i wouldnt want him in real life but as a movie villian he is more than just a little awesome...

most villians i like are the tragic ones...seeing how they life got f****** up so bad at some point, they just kinda slizzered into this god damn bad position....

another villian who is kinda an anti-hero seeing how he is the protagonist but not nice in any case...would be riddick...(vin diesel is awesome XD)

sry i kinda rambled on^^°

tonystardreamer In reply to Isen-Vinter [2013-08-05 21:44:41 +0000 UTC]

Hey no problem. I like rambles. ^^

The thing that made the business dude from Avatar really a jerk is that he KNEW what he was doing was wrong, but he still did it.

And yeah, tragic villains are the best.  The main villain my "main" story has a real tragic past.

You make up any villains?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Isen-Vinter In reply to tonystardreamer [2013-08-06 07:07:19 +0000 UTC]

seldomly, because they would more in the cathegory of disturbed human beeing....like beeing paranoid or bipolar...or he/she is at first totally nromal and than everything crumbles around her (losing her job after not even beeing paid for weeks, boyfriend cheating on her, parents have a nasty divorce and no time to listen to her...little things like that which make the biggest impact on the human psyche)

its often times a greater challenge to keep it simple and nevertheless logical...i only shake my head at stories that totally overdo it.

the easiest tragety to push on the characters is rape...not very creativ and most writers miss the full impact that such a experience has on the psyche. the one that overdo it are those who not only make use of the ra** thing but kill of the protagonists parents, the boyfriend/girlfriend turns out to be abusive and she/he is a drug addict etc...

they just cant settle for one thing and stick with it which is sad. the more tragedies the less empathy the reader is likely to feel.

sadly i have never really time to write any more T^T

what tragic backround do you give your villians...?

Picture this:

A brilliant scientist in almost every field of science ventures into a field of science forbidden my galactic law:Genetic Engineering. When asked to stop he and his coworkers flee.  He is obsessed with perfection he Genetically alters himself and his willing coworkers and wife. eventually they turn into superhuman (think Khan from star trek). After a lab accident he is forced to add cybernetic implants to himself (both arms, a leg, his spine).

Once Galactic Law catches up with him, he and is super humans fights back. After 2 squads are killed, the police have no choice but to fight back. Though his wife wants to surrender so no one else will die he keeps fighting for the "advancement" of science. Because of this all his coworkers are killed or captured and his wife dies a horrible death while he watches on, helpless to do anything. He flees the planet and runs from the law until he is captured by forces of the Vakor empire(think bugs with a Klingon society) and put into a Vakor slave camp for he owed them debt.

After three years in the camp he escapes now in a cybernetic body that he created over the three years.  He then starts a rampage through the galaxy to extract his revenge.

I know what you mean about tragedy overkill, that's why I really only gave the scientist one real tragedy; the death of his wife and partly the deaths of his coworkers.

Everything else he expected or used to his advantage: He knew the galactic law would come after him for Genetic Engineering and he was gone before they got there. He viewed his cybernetic implants as an advancement. When the police raided his hideout he didn't lose his research because he had a backup memory chip in his cybernetic implants. And when he was in the Vakor slave camp he use the time to lay low from Galactic law and created blue prints for droids of war and found contacts for when he escaped. And really, if he wanted to, he could have escaped the moment he got there.

Man, I WISH I had some chapters available.  After I'm finished with my schooling I want to take a course on writing.  I do however draw many aspects of the story.

Only problem is, is that since it's my "main" story, I'm afraid of it being stolen before I can copyright it. Or do you think it's safe enough to post the major characters and aliens here?

And sorry for not replying earlier, just didn't know how to word it.

hmmm hard to tell...maybe you could open them to your followers ...i dont really know if you can restrict who can see your post or not...but if you can control who sees what you write then you could get some feedback without having to fear that someone might steal it...

but if you cant restrict it...well then i wouldnt do it if i were you

there are just to many sleazy users in deviant ...to many thiefs who steal stuff from the creativ folks and say its their own work >.>

i dont want anything of that story in the the hands of thief that thinks himself real clever because they stole something with so much potential...

so yeah...dont post anything of your ideas without restriction possebilities ^^
