“Stupid.”That’s what people are saying about us.
So, that’s what we are. Shocked:
“Wait, you’re engaged?”
They think we won’t, can’t, shouldn’t
Make it together. We are this committed:
“Till death do us part”
We’re too young, too rash,
There’s too much ahead of us in life:
“Explore life alone first”
Life is too hard, to long to wait,
We’ll find someone else:
“Young love is fleeting”
People only smile and congratulate because
They want to placate us…all the while thinking:
“Stupid”
The worst poison from a mother’s lips;
The slyest of deceptions from a father:
“He only said it was ok because he doesn’t think it will last”
The world around us is made of lies.
We are above that. We are ethereal.
“I now pronounce you Man and Wife”
Stupid?
“I do.”
