Ah yes time to check a rewind back into your gallery good sir, besides there be Godzilla pics and you know that wretched crab cannot be off too far. ^O^
Glad you know well of the horrible thing that Hollywood did to the poor Gman and hell if you watch the movie Godzilla Final Wars he gets exactly what he deserves, nuff said.
Furthermore compliment coming up with the idea here of the Gman himself going against his crappy American counterpart, actually found out in that American flick the Godzilla was supposed to fight some other monster and they cut it out!
Anyway more onto your pic, your attention to showing the depth and details with your penciling skills are far none my friend, think even Toho themselves would give you a pat on the back for this level of work.
Like how well you show the bulky and larger nature of our fav Godzilla to the smaller and rather sleeker feel with the American type, very cool. Plus that's incredible the way you managed to pack in all these many other pictures into the background from even the infamous American Godzilla humping a building, bless you sir. ^O^
Wow for an old pic it still holds some light Verbasan, well done!

i believe i drew the US Godzilla (aka Zilla, Gino, and a plethora of insults) from memory, so he wasnt spot on, but i think i was pretty close.
Still, in a fight between the two, i still think the original would dominate.
Yea, i had fun drawing all the little people in monster suits around the pic, i think i drew Mothra on a string if you look closely.

Oh wow still have to wow at you lad for what your able to create on your paper sometimes and this one seriously proves how much skill you got! And all from memory too, dammit your just too awesome for words sir. ^o^
Here, here. Not to mention the new age Godzilla got his ass kicked by a bridge and missiles, old age Godzilla just gave a big fat 0 on the level of care for that crap, lol.
Ah yes and can even see the guys up top who are pulling the string, good to see your taking note even on the little guys too man. ^-^

The '98 atrocity was drawn beautifully. The big-G looks a little too bulky, but otherwise looks well done as well. I have to say this is a rather entertaining image to look at! I've been a G fan all my life, so this really got me to crack up!

yeah, i didnt have any reference when i was drawing this one, for either actually, and since i had just seen the 98 one, it was a little fresher in my memory. I remember when i finished it that i thought the same

A nice pic, I personally like the raptor-ish look of the US' version of the Big Guy. As for he and the original butting heads, I think that contest might be closer than you think.
The original G-Man has raw power on his side, and in a straight up brawl would probably win, but the US version is a bit more... "feral", is the word I'm looking for I guess, and wouldn't be likely to attack something that could overwhelm it head-on, possibly taking more of a harrying tactic against it's taller and slower counterpart (you've got to admit the original G ain't exactly built for speed, while the US G is pretty streamlined).

yeah, but the raptorish godzilla was taken out by approximately 12 militatry issue missiles, while the original godzillas tolerance for military weaponry was much higher. Given the higher threshold, its my opinion that OG godzlla could handle anything that the raptorish one could, it would just be a matter of time (by which i mean like weeks or even months!) until og godzilla could somehow get his hands on US godzilla, at which point its pretty much over.
But thats just my opinion

A point, the oG has a higher tolerance against missles and other sundry high explosives, but again, this factors into the speed vs power equation. And GINO has one thing over oG when it comes to missles, he's cold-blooded, heat-seekers that would normally track the oG no problem would be rendered so much friendly fire against GINO. And you forget the fact that GINO was entrapped in the cables of the Brooklyn bridge when he was taken out. Given a free range of movement he could have avoided them easily.
Should GINO land a crippling blow, like the hamstring or a major vein cluster (unlikely, I know, due to oG's folded skin, which makes for tough slices and such, but still, repeated blows...) he'd be able to dance around oG like the big fella was standing still. And if we're talking the animated GINO, well, he's packing atomic breath too, so that balences out the distance fighting, unless oG happens to fall right on top of a nuclear waste silo, or something similar. So I still say that the outcome of a tete` a tete` between the two would be close.

biollante tore into godzillas shoulder/throat area in godzilla vs biollante, and that battle hardly even phazed Godzilla. Godzilla fell into a volcano in godzilla 1985 (or gojira 1984 your preference, lol) and was fine by the next movie, also in 1984/5 he scooped up a nuclear/atomic reactor and absorbed the energy it was generating. i just dont think that the us godzilla would be capable of doing ANY damage to the japanese one, and as far as a close battle, all i can see happening is the US G running and hiding while Japan G slowly lumbers afterwards making perhaps the most tedious godzilla movie ever.. that i would still love to watch of course!

DUDE, you worked on the show??? (for the record the show was infinitely superior to the movie!!!) you have some really good artwork on your page man, im impressed. So what was it like working at sony? and does the animation department even exist anymore? Oh and for the record, i think if it hadnt been labeled as godzilla, it would have been a great film, i mean it was good, but it was no godzilla!
ps thanks for the comments

Beautiful...simply beautiful. It's sad to think that the final Godzilla film (Godzilla Final Wars) is approaching very soon (December).
Oh how sad I will be the day I watch it...
Nice use of the pre-2000 era Godzilla model in contrast to the horrid American version.

I wouldn't worry too much though, Toho has made the "final" godzilla movie several times! Thanks for your comments btw!

Heattitude In reply to Verbasan [2004-10-12 21:01:22 +0000 UTC]
Well the only real "final" film to be totted as such was Godizilla vs Destroya, but they had an angle out of that by having Godizzla Junior growing into fullsize from it's parents radioactive meltdown.
However, this film takes place using the original timeline, and not the reinvented timeline from 1985 and onward, as it uses Minilla in the film. This is actually supposed to be Toho's final film for Godzilla as it is supposed to bring an end to the Kaiju. Personally, I attribute this to the fact that so few people can actually write a decent script now (not that the old ones were all that stellar...) and with such a limited following (it's really a cult series and far from mainstream) the films make limited money (and with new special effects it can cost a pretty yen).
Hell, the whole reason the new timeline (started in the Godzilla 1985 - US title) was created was to bring back interest in a product that had nearly died within the previous ten years.
And no other title has ever had the word "Final" in it, and no story in the series has been so deadset on ending it (there was ALWAYS some masterful plan to bring about the next film - seriously, they killed the Big G off in the first film, and the second one was it's mate!) This time there isn't a way out unless Minilla actually comes to full-size, but since they've had a little under 50 years to do THAT and still haven't done so, I doubt it's going to happen.

interesting (btw, i'm overjoyed that i can finally have a conversation of this magnitude about godzilla with someone!)
However, from what i understand, the 90's godzilla series (gojira 1984 through destoyah) ended with destroyah, and the new godzilla in 2000 was a direct sequel to the original 1954 gojira. Unlike the heisei series and the original cheesy string of movies (which i love to death!!!) the movies that followed after 2000 were not connected or sequential, even though the godzilla in them looked similar. Each was supposedly a direct sequel to the 54 movie ( and it shows in the new mechagodzilla movie, and that one with mothra, ghidrah and baragon (i cant believe im spacing on the title!) sono matter how they may end a godzilla movie, there is no definitive way to kill off the character. They can always make a direct sequel to the 54 movie again! still, if they say this is the last, and that they want to end the kaiju series, that's a different story, and that sucks! After the last Mechagodzilla movie I fell out of the loop, so i do thank you for the information on the latest flick, and im already searching for a bootleg of it! and im even more excited if it is a sequel to the original string of movies, even if i do have to put up with minilla...with any luck Godzilla Jr from the 90's will come about and annihalate him!!!
peace!

You know, i probably wouldn't have hated that movie so much if they hadn't tried to push it as godzilla, even if they had called it something like "BOB THE LIZARD!" it would have been more enjoyable!

yes I know. bob the lizard would have been a GREAT title. and then it would have been a decent movie. but they had to push it as some amazing new graphical transformation of a classic, and so set everyone's hopes up pretty high... I pretty much think everyone hated that movie. I mean, I'm not even a godzilla fan and I knew it sucked.
