No. They aren't even close. No. No.FF8 was the lousiest game ever, second only to FF7. No.
FF8's opening was PATHETIC. It didn't even MEAN anything. It was a TRAINING fight, while they made it seem like this big epic battle. THE GUY IS A WUSS ANYWAY.
No. No. FF will never EVER be as good as MechWarrior. Different Genres or no, FF can't TOUCH MechWarrior.

All I have to say is: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.
I watched the opening for that on some extra disc I got in the game box for Mario Kart Double Dash. It was excruciatingly adorable. And I wanted that game soooo badly. But. Gamecube games aren't made anymore. And it wasn't popular enough to exist in any stores around here. Soooooo.... BAWWWWWWWL

I still prefer the MW4 opening over that, FF is all about color and flash over substance. The MW4 opening showed nothing that you couldn't actually do/have happen in-game.
With that in mind, FF:CC _WAS_ a ton of fun. But only with a group of people with GBA SPs. XD So it was CRAZY expensive on top of being hard to find. And I still played it with friends. :3 Playing alone is piss-boring, no lie.

I don't think so. :C but then again, I've only ever seen CC's opening, and the beginning of Advent Children. I always liked FF's art... it was so clean and realistic. I mean... as realistic as a short, muscular man with excessively spiky blonde hair and a hugeass sword could get anyway. lol but yeah, I didn't really mind the art. I also am attracted to anything artsy though, so... idk who knows xD

One sentence to ruin the 'realistic art' FF has: NOBODY wears that many belts. In anything. Not even the 'goths' in our mall. XD
You want realistic, go with MW4. It plays things oddly straight, and I love it for that. :3

dude ff8 is a god game very fun to play just like ff7 the ff games are very well done yes the story on each game is different but if you can look past that there good rpg games with good soundtracks that are very well composed and animated .

I can agree the soundtracks are good, but really every FF game from 7 on up is just the same damn thing over and over.
And FF8 was batshit insane, you can't tell me that story was good when it MADE ZERO SENSE. XD
There are many other RPGs that do 'RPG' better than the FF games can hope to. If you can look past the silly FF series altogether, you'd see FAR better RPGs exist all over the place.

i know there are better rpgs then ff im not going to argue there but ff8 was a bit confusing that i will agree on also but i honestly enjoyed the game play and story ( even if the ending made me go wtf) and ff7 crisis core was also a very good game with a great story that wasnt exactly the same as ff7 and 8 and so on and so on. i have noticed about ff is every character has a father issues at some point but i still enjoyed it .

If you enjoyed it, then that's all that should matter.
Far as I'm concerned, even the characters are the same. Squeenix has this little character archetype pick n' mix box they use with every game, and you're guaranteed to find a certain 5 character types in EVERY game they touch. It disturbs me that a company will put so little effort in a new FF game knowing full-well their fanboys will eat it up.
All I know is they'll get my money when they finally make something truly original. Preferably something that doesn't look like the characters ran headfirst through a fetish shop then into a threshing machine. XD

well the ff games are still good games and its not guys that play ff games a good chunk of the fans of ff games are female XD , ff8 has a very special thing to me it was the first video game i played threw till the end on the ps one and was my first gaem on the ps1 that a ff7 so yea there that for me

You should give the older FFs a go, honestly. You may enjoy the fact that their stories are actually substantial. And the characters actually feel REAL. I preferred number 6 the most. Not to mention it wasn't hell-bent on color and flash with zero substance. XD

Seven was my first, honestly. I hated it even then. Sure, it did neat things for the industry, but even then everything it did was done before its time, and better. Especially story. And characterization. And...well, everything really. XD

i still enjoyed it alot hahaha and honestly in the ff series i think 7 prequel crisis core was a much better done game even if it was a tad to short ( beat the whole game story and all in about 20 hours)

I'd have liked Crisis Core more if it didn't have that absolutely witless random card system going on. That thing was just another fail in my book, but at least SOME people enjoyed the thing.

i liked the game alot the random slot machine pissed me off alot to tell the truth it was a idea that was good on paper and shit in game but i just looked past that and went for the attack aspect to get past it and have it come up less often still was good .
