Nightmare Form: Armadillo

School was king my ass so I wasn't able to to this one digitally

I his design sort of popped into my head as I was trying to figure out what I wanted his human from to look like based off of his nightmare form (I did that first).

I chose his circle based on the animal I chose for his nightmare form, as armadillos have to constantly forage for food/ eat due to their low body fat. (which causes them to be unable to keep warm very well and expend more energy doing so. This fact also influenced how I wanted his human form to look.

And I wanted him to look opposite of what his Circle belies, gluttony.
With gluttony one usually thinks the extreme of "fat", so I decided to go into the direction of "skin & bones" as the idea for my design, he's constantly starving.

While drawing his design I was also thinking alot about the Black Panther movie so I took a lot of insparation from various african cultures:

His war paint markings, fiirst & last name are inspired by Bantu culture, Wanjala meaning "Famine" in the Luhya dialect and "Isingoma" meaning "witch doctor" or "first of twins" from the Baganda language (luganda)

His clothing inspired by ancient Egyptian clothing (I'll probably give him more outfits later)

And his hair was inspired partly by a lions mane but also by the wild hair coming off an armadillo.
