'Don't do this,' he pleaded.
You wanted me to be human, I reminded him. Well, watch me.
' Please. For me.'
But you won't stay with me any other way.
' Please.' It was just a whisper in the blowing rain that tossed my hair and drenched my clothes- making me as wet as if this were my second jump of the day.
I smiled and raised my arms... lifting my face into the rain.
And I flung myself off the cliff.

Fanart of the cliff diving in New Moon. I guess it was pretty insane for her to do that (ok, a LOT insane), but for me it felt like the first time Bella really made her choice, having seen life beyond Edward, that she wasn't going to move on. Does that make sense...? Jumping just felt, to me, like saying, 'l'll live with the pain because it's better than forgetting you.' It was truly the end of the scared Bella and the start of the Bella who would keep her eyes open when running with Edward (haha).
New Moon made me really sad most of the time, but the ending was worth it. ^__^ I was glad Bella made the choice that she did (sorry to the Team Jacob people!).

Wow, this really captures the moment. I really understand what you mean. Bella finally came out, and realised that she was an individual that could live past edward. She became her own character, not just "edwards girl".

You make it sound like she DID try to kill herself
To me it really showed how much she needed Edward in her life since she did it just to hear his voice. Ah wait, now reading what you wrote again, it makes sense... she'll live with the pain of remembering, right? "Not moving on" as in "not forgetting Edward" instead of "ending her life"?
Anyways really nice picture, she looks free and ... I don't know... content? decided? Like what you wrote, she made her choice... I think I see your point now *haha*

haha yeah 'not forgetting edward' was what I meant. I think of freedom, actually, when I read that part. Sort of like, she's not drowning in the pain anymore, she's carrying it with the knowledge that it's her price for not forgetting him.
