Well, whether canonically Sascha is a boy or a girl, I'm looking at her as a girl... At least in my fanfiction. There don't seem to be many female Shinigami. Sascha is the only one I know of so far... And Sascha might not even be a girl. Sascha is just so androgynous in appearance. Could be male or female. His/her hair isn't terribly long. His/her eyes are quite gorgeous when I look at them in color.

She is super fab. You've been reading the manga, right? She's been in the manga. And the thing is that Yana Toboso seems to have deliberately made it difficult to know. Sascha is a unisex name. It's German, but it could belong either to a boy or a girl.

Maybe. Though, given that Shinigami are all humans who have committed suicide, and given Grell's dramatic flair, I suspect that he was an actor in his human life. That may explain in part why he acts so feminine.

I think the magaka (Yana Toboso) watched Shingeki No Kyojin (Attack on Titan). She must have mixes Sasha and Hanji because it's the same mixed personality.

Я сначала лайнарт вектором делаю, потом на нем уже крашу карандашом, маркером, кистями и т.д.
Просто сначала тени более четкие делаю, а потом уже начинаю поверх них акварельной кистью новые слои размывать, еще часто поверх слои маркером (или маркер+мокрые края) добавляю, чтобы картинка не слишком плоской получалась.
Но иногда поверх мангу все же накладываю, чтобы текстуры остались, но на этой картинке без наложения обошлась)

Ну у Тобосо не самые красивые работы, так что дерзай, начало у тебя просто великолепное
С ума сойти, я всеми этими "ручными материалами" вообще пользоваться не умею, так что вдвойне снимаю шляпу (со своей головы и с головы альтер эго). Только диджитал, только хардкор... Текстуры манговские зачастую даже при покраске дают определённый шарм, поэтому я тоже не всегда их убираю.

так "ручные материалы" - это ж самые обычные инструменты в програх для рисования и ФШ, я все SAI делаю (и лайн, и сам покрас), лишь обрабатываю в ФШ.
я толком рисовать не умею, вот и крашу мангу
ну а диджитал еще удобен тем, что есть право на ошибку, не понравился слой - удалил, на бумаге не все сотрешь :с

О-о, согласна. Никогда не рисую на бумаге, хотя это - начало начал. Чихаю от грифеля, ручку не стереть. а в красках оказывается вся комната. А учитывая, что я взрослый и вроде как серьёзный человек, мои закрашенные руки выглядят... странно XD

Seeing this colored, made me realize just how ... young... Sasha looks. His iris is as big as Ciel's (and other young charas) which is bigger then the fully grown characters.
Add in his height, looks similar to Ciel ... Sasha is young.
I know many are going to awww over Sasha and squeal "he's cute!" ... and totally miss the horror he represents = a youth who killed himself at a young age, possibly before turning 13.

We can still love him! ... we just need to remember he's no innocent. But really if we preferred innocent kids we wouldn't be reading this manga! I mean really its main character is a kid that sold his soul to a demon for vengeance and that was in the beginning. And top three fave (adult) males are the most sinister-
Sebastian - said demon that's gonna eat Ciel's soul in the end, in the mean time he's playing at beineg one hell of a bulter
Grell - Do I really need to say anything beyond " He was part of Jack the Ripper and loved it"?
Undertaker - Part of the Evil nobles, deserted the ranks of Reapers, animate corpses
Yeah readers fave charas from this manga are monsters themselves (mine is Undertaker! then Grell:wink: )
Not only did Sasha kill himself, he takes his fun in his work and like Grell seems to be happier in this after-life than being alive. But he also seems to be amused by morbid things like the idea of Siglinde -creator of the gas- is going to England and this could unbalance things

Well, Toboso is quite pessimistic herself, she's the type of persone who has this morbid world outlook, she doesn't respect religion, nor friendship or love. Life itself either. And however - people like her works. I used to, now I'm for more "light" ideology (thank Goodness, I grew up from that gothic age -_-). I used to like Grell as a bright an psycho character, I used to like Sebastian as a wise and devilish creature, but I never liked Ciel nor Undertaker. Somehow now I have this shift "pro" Undertaker, after the last chapter and the scene-frame with the portrait.
But however the theme of suicide was always a great interest for me, so yeh, I was attracted by the idea of shinigamis. A bit sadistic in a psychological way, rather gloomy, but interesting. Especially knowing that there will be IWW in that maga. At least the time comes closer and closer to it.

Wasn't WWI around 1914 or so? That's still about 25 years away as they haven't gotten into the 1890s yet.
... oh wait, you weren't talking about real world timing.... After all Kuro timeline already has early type of rearely seen cars (must be novelty items for ubber rich who WANT to show off - which is why Ceil doesn't have one he doesn't show off as watchdog) and tvs! And in real world that gas was created more around time of WWI wasn't it?

Nope, I don't read Yana's blog (or such), for some reasone I just thought of it when I saw the tanks and when when started to speak about tha gas (the real name is yperite, if I'm not mistaken, known as mustard gas, first use during the WWI, right)

Both the ganzer Tank and mustard gas appeared in WWI so yeah you're quicker on the mark than I was. Esp with the new psycho reaper Sacha mentioning(or implying) thing like the politics being in delicate balance and could crumple. Seems the Kuro world could have WWI earlier than reality did.

Oh Yes! its in the first arc we see Sebastian talking on an early style of mobile phone, he's conentiantly standing on the car's hood I believe.
I can't remember, but in that first arc, when Mayrin put in too much laundry soap and it bubbles out of control ... I can't remember if there's a laundry machine or not...

re-reading ch 1.... dang I've not noticed how Yana's art has changed ...
On the 'anachronistic'? (out of timeline?) things are May-rins boots, they look like modern combat boots. first time se see them is ch.1 When Mey-rin trips. they really look like combat boots with those treds
Also in ch.1 Bard mentions Superman, complete with that iconic image of Superman in flight
ch 3 starts out with Bard looking at a wire that's been chewed on by rats, it looks like modern electrical wires (even though later chapters (esp one with Agni trying to 'admit guilt')seem to imply the lights in the manor are gas and candles) but there in beginning of ch 3 is that modern looking wire and Bard is saying they (the rats) are constanly causing power outages.
Ch 3 has the car (reminds me of the 20s) and cell phone... its thinner than what I thought, looks like a flip phone.
ch 4 as the Verro rat ask Sebastian if he's some 'ex-SWAT mercenary. (and talking about chs 3-4, its nice to re-read the first hints to what Sebastian really is, first clues that this is a horror story, seeing the terror of that Verro rat)
Finally found the time with Mey-rin and the too much bubbles in the laundry.... ch 5, pg 12. And nope can't see anything its too much bubbles. XD but going by that... if it was by hand, there wouldn't be so much bubbles right? Se we assume its a machine but there's no image of one to verify.

Sascha's gender is still ambigious. The translation team views Sascha as male and thus that is why they called Sascha a "he". Sascha's pronoun and name are unisex and thus cannot be strictly placed to male or female. So view Sascha however the heck you want :3
