KIERAL and LOrd-Kontaiii have a contest themed 'rebirth', so here is a thing for that. I won't be able to draw for the next week or so, so this was a quick fix to tide me over c:

I don't really have an explanation for the picture, but I've been thinking, wouldn't it be interesting if we had exoskeletons and got to crawl out of ourselves when we grew? What relationship would we have with our shed skins? Would we be disgusted by them and throw them out like clipped toenails, or keep them as mementos of our progress through life, like parents keep baby teeth? Rebirth is defined in part by the relationship it creates between an old self and a new one. What decides the nature of these relationships, and must they be positive for the rebirth to benefit the reborn? Okay, that was my musing for the day.
