Really good technique. I favor a similar approach most of the time with graphite. Learned pencil drawing first; been many years since I've done a full tonal work with the medium. Paint is faster, although every media has its distinctive beauty that's hard to resist. This one looks like a drawing, which is a wonderful thing. Less enthusiasm for work that looks so much like a photo who can tell the difference and who would care?
Tips: reflected light is seldom right at the edge; that's how the camera sees but not how people see. Since this is back lit and has a rim light, it works okay.
You have also used a faint darkening of the profile edge, between the rim light and background in a few places.
Good call: edges can't reflect light directly back to the viewer, and so must always appear darker as the form turns away.
You might have blurred some of the edges to increase the illusion of eye-movement and that the head continues beyond the contour, eg. we are looking at an edge across the surface of the face because of the limit of vision.

These are only rendering techniques and a good beginning. Design imbued with purpose and emotion, translated through interesting technique and at times, highlighted through pictorial elements which tell a story: these are the goals to strive toward.
This drawing shows your talent. Keep working...
