this is beautiful, not only from an artistic (the angle, the inks, the mood..) but an emotional perspective as well. I've been in love before - it sucks sometimes, and is great other times. It's never the same twice... and this.. I just. I'm sorry. I used to be able to comment better, but nowadays I don't seem to be able to find the words to fit. Your gallery is a constant inspiration.

I just saw this and, in all seriousness, it's made my eyes water. Recently, I was dumped by a girl and I did love her. It lasted for almost 4 years and, all of a sudden, it all just ended. I haven't been the same since then.
I'll probably be in a pursuit to feel " whole" again for a long time... But you nailed it on the head and your picture is drawn so well to convey a deep, special moment beautifully. Cheers.

1000th view Woohoo!
yeah, you said it all right there. I've been through that crazy, swirly, untouchable thing they call love. Though I'm never quite sure if it was ever real. I think it was. It certainly felt special at the time, But how do you ever know if its the real thing? I think your work captures the moments when you're with that person... and you think it is real. F*ckin' good job.
Your style really reminds me of Jamie Hewlett's "Tank Girl"... Are you ever going to draw a Tank Girl pic?!?!!?!? Do one for me!!!!

you know, not every relationship is shattered...I have had my fair share of shattered hopes, and it has always been HIM who needs the new princess, not me needing a new knight...^_^
But your thoughts are indeed wise, and usually true...For one "never in a true" relationship, you pretty much hit the nail on the head...
"And even though, even though you are no longer with that person, memories still remain with you. Sometimes they are painful memories, and sometimes you are just remembering them with a sort of quiet understanding. Special moments never fade away."
omfg that is so true....I have newfound respect for you, aside from the fact that I woship you.....
I add this to my faves now, not just because of the meaning--that moment of bliss, when everything is right with the world, but because honestly I adore the detail you but into simple b&w.... omg love you forevertheend.

the effect of the reversed inks where the light isnt hitting is great. and the unique angle taken, ad the pose altogether, its hard to pull off, and you did itmagnificently.
and as always, your words are just as wonderful as your art.

Ohh, another rocking pic vert! Score one billion point two three for the masteress of the ink. Much love the composition, perspective, and all that technical mumbo-dumbo. The emotional stuff kicks by far the most ass though. Bravo I say!

Ah vert....
vert.. vert. Our precious vert. You're a sight for soar eyes. 5 Anime DTF's in the Indy Art DTF, and one of yours. This is where I'd normally say "Fuck this! Who need DA, this is bullcrap," and walk out forever n ever - if there wasn't just that one kickass original that makes it worth sticking around this fascist popsicle-stand. Way to put the Indy back in Indy Art.
Ok, this may seem whiney and what not, but seeing this one the frontpage next to all that other shiznit really did make my day a helluva lot more bearable. So.. ya... I guess what I'm trying to say is thanks for sharing these with us. Keep em comin, gunpowder.
And as for the pic, it's awesome, of course. As per usual, a sublime and powerful use of black. Always fun.
And as for love, you've got some insightful things to say - more than a lot of couples I know, for whatever that's worth. Maybe being out of the game's given you a little bit of perspective. Not a bad thing. Now quit drawing and go get your vert-is-ninja-dance on. You know you want to. 'Tis the season.
"Ya, see? It's not so great - the girl left at the end."
"They always do."
No such thing as forever.

ah, i liked your description...the most interesting fact about love i found by watching sex tv (on citytv, channel 27, great show, i highly recommend it) is that when you first start getting involved with someone your brain releases a chemical that gives you a rush not-unlike cocaine. this is the reason why you obsessively think about your love interest and feel so damn good all the time. and when you break-up with someone, your brain stops producing this chemical and thus you go through a withdrawal of sorts.
also, the term "seven year-itch" is very true. studies show that a couple that has been together happily for seven years tend to stay together. why? well, because when you first start going out with someone, you get that chemical rush, but it only lasts for so long. couples who stay together despite their lack of chemical highs are obviously compatible on many more levels other than physical/sexual/etc.
So many people might wonder why do some people stay together for so damn long! the thing is, after you go through this lack of that chemical, your brain starts to produce ANOTHER chemical. this chemical causes one to feel at peace in a relationship and very content. it does not, however, have the same effect as the cocaine-like rush, but it will do.
and so, love in an instance, a chemical cocktail!
ok ok ok....i got very distracted. but im lovin this perspective dealy and the yeah...my comments suck and are not helpful in the least. this is pretty snazzy though.

I've been lucky enough to find real love. And it was a long hard road to get. But now after 11 years of knowing each other we're married and have our first child. And I can honestly tell her I love her. Its an awesome feeling and I wish it on everyone.
Your work is incredible and you're constantly my inspiration to work on my sequential art. You're definitely one of my favorite artists.

I think "true love" has something to do with selflessness which is hard as hell to find. But anyway, that's just me.
This pic has such a great perspective and setting and postures. They really are in there own world. PDA!

You should write essays. In my philosophy class, I was one of two people to write about "What is Love" for my final essay. Got a decent mark on it, too.
[constructive criticism] All I could really find in this piece that I could even dream of touching up was the lamp itself.. it seemed to be at a funny angle.. not sure if I'm just bad at perception (very possible, given my skills as an artist) or what. [/constructive criticism]
Awesome piece, though it was the description that blew me away.

No one draws bottoms of shoes like yooouuuu....heh
The bug's eye-view does make it really dynamic like a few others said. Angles are everything, yo. Or little details like the elbow and finger swirls, and the minute detailing of shoe treds. I retract my prior statement; *DETAILS* are everything!
"and love is so different, and SUCH an untouchable, that people sometimes mistaken an ecstasy during a relationship to be "love". "
Straight on. I actually think love is a CONCIOUS decision made by to people that takes extended periods of time (years and years) to consumate completely. Or something... Either way..its like you said; its a matter of finding 'completion' or some crap like that. You have to decide to let someone complete you. You know alot about human emotion/tendencies for someone claiming to never experienced this side of it very often. You wax philosophical about it great to.
Theres only love and lust
Hey...yeah...that DOES look alot like Joe... except a little less punked out. Joe got himself a ho.
