The sand was still warm from the previous heat of that day. The war chief was sitting down near the sea, alone as always, and thinking. She'd been busy with tribe organization and the recent bandit raid to their territory. Takoda came to her mind. They used to be such good friends, all four of them... until that... thing happened, and he got exiled, and she repeated the same story again and again in her mind.
"Stop it, it won't help. Stop." She then thought, going back to watching the sea, which looked as serene as always.

Tiberius was of course patrolling the sea, allowing the gentle waves ease his raging mind. His mind of course was thinking of only Takoda. He felt his childhood memories flood his thoughts, those memories of Takoda, Ahanu, Kitah, and him playing in the ocean's warm yet chilling waters as children. Tiberius wasn't paying any attention to what was in front of him, too focused on the memories. He felt himself bump into something, or someone, and instantly snapped out of his trance-like state.

Suddenly, out of nowhere a someone crashed against her, making her jump a bit in surprise. She was about to tell them to go away, the beach was big enough for walking, and they had to bump into her? Though, as she turned her head to tell them that, she saw who it was, and immediatly felt awkward: she couldn't tell that to Tiberius.
"Uh... sorry..." She said then, after some seconds of being struggling with what to say to apologise.

Tiberius turned quickly to face who he had bumped into and it was Kitah, he pulled away quickly, putting on a very embarrassed face. "I uh... I'm sorry too!" He said in a slightly frantic voice. He usually wasn't a fool around her but he's really blown that outta the blue now.

"I uh... What're you doing out here?" He asked, trying to break the awkward silence that fell before them.

Tiberius' reaction surprised her a lot, he had never been awkward; why now...? But then he asked her what was she doing there, and she didn't have too much time to think of how to explain his behaviour.
He probably wouldn't like hearing the same topic again and again, but Kitah saw no point in lying. "I was just thinking... of Takoda and Ahanu, and my brother..."

"Oh... Well I was thinking about Ahanu and Takoda too. Just remembering us as children when we played in the water," Tiberius explained, saying a bit to why he had bumped into her. This topic seemed to always be on their minds, acting like a pesky fly that won't go away.

"Those were the good days...." Tiberius murmured, looking away form Kitah and out to the water, smiling.

"They were, indeed..." She muttered. She remembered a day when Ahanu was bitten by a crab, and Tiberius and Takoda started to see who would kill it first while their poor friend had his little paw hurting.
"No matter what, children seem to be the happiest creatures, huh...?" She added then, thinking of how worryless they all were when they were cubs. Nothing really mattered besides from playing.

"They sure do... They don't have this heavy responsibility hanging on their shoulders like adults do, it kinda sucks," Tiberius murmured, but the end of his sentences made him chuckle a little bit, simply because it really did suck. When they were children there was nothing to effect their friendships, but once they became adults, everything changed for the worse.

"Ssometimes I wonder if we did something wrong to deserve all this, when we were cubs," Kitah said, looking at her paws. It was a silly thought, but why not? Maybe there was something in their childhood which remained forgotten. But then again, it was silly.
After a pause, she raised her head to look at the sea once again, and, without looking at Tiberius, said: "Tiberius, we are friends, right...?"

A bit confused by the question, Tiberius responded with," Yeah of course we are!" Although after he said so he thought, Maybe more than that... Though he kept that last bit to himself. Although he wanted it, he didn't want to force Kitah into anything she wasn't prepared for.

"We were cubs back then, we never knew what would happen to us in the future, it's what makes life exciting, maybe a bit depressing, but all the more exciting," Tiberius responding, smiling, but his eyes looked a bit dark. "What gets thrown our way, we'll fight it. Together."

"Thank you..." She replied with a small smile. Friends. Of course, just friends, like always... She hid the sudden change in her expression with a cough, and looked at the sea before saying anything else.
"Yes, that's true... and yet... why...? Why is Takoda's ability forbidden...?" She continued, beaten. "I've never really stopped and thought that deeply,"

"I never really knew, but I think it was forbidden because it had the ability to change the events of the future," Tiberius's smile faded, and he turned his head back to the lapping waves of the ocean. "I can wish all I want, but I can't change my decisions back then, neither can Takoda. What happened has happened and we should push on from there," Tiberius said, his tone changing from wise to serious. There was no point in staying in the past,"I'm sorry that I dragged you into all of this."

Tiberius' tone intimidated her, and she thought she had said something wrong. Great, friendzoned and now she was saying stupid things. "I'm sorry..." she muttered. "Sorry, I just didn't know..."
But Tiberius was right: they couldn't keep living in the past, as Kitah usually did. It was silly, it didn't help; Beran, Takoda and Ahanu wouldn't come back that way. And yet, despite feeling stupid, Kitah couldn't help it. The past had been so different from the present...

"Here, for old times sake, wanna play in the water?" Tiberius smiled again, this could be the chance to break that friendship they held and push it to be something further from that. He liked that idea, maybe he could pull a move somewhere along the way.

Well, that was a complete twist in the conversation. Tiberius, the mighty chief of Seaven, wanting to... play in the water? She couldn't hide the surprise in her face for a moment. "Uh... eh... sure," she replied with an awkward smile. It had been years since she did that for the last time.

"Don't look so surprised, even someone like me needs to have some fun," Tiberius laughed, because her face was really funny to him. But at the same time, it made him more sad, he didn't want to look intimidating to her, he wanted to be that stand up guy who she could run to when things get rough, talk to openly and freely when she needed something off of her mind, hell, sleep with when she's having a hard time sleeping by herself.

"I don't always like being chief you know? Sometimes, just sometimes I wish I could be a warrior. Just lead a normal life by your side..." He muttered, hoping she'd catch some of what he said, just so she'd know he had feelings for her.

"Oh, no, don't get me wrong," Kitah said quickly. "It's just that... I don't know, it's been years since we have had fun together," She felt all awkward when saying that, though Tiberius seemed to be in a good mood, so she relaxed a bit.
Just when she was about to saying something else, he spoke first, "I don't always like being chief you know? Sometimes, just sometimes I wish I could be a warrior. Just lead...". That's what he said, though Kitah was pretty sure that she heard something else after that.
"Just lead what...?" She asked, "Sorry, I didn't got it all,"

Having to repeat himself, Tiberius got a bit flustered and his face grew red with embarrassment. "Y'know... um... Lead a normal life with... You." He said, giving her a shaky smile, but none the less, a true smile.

Hang on. Did he just say with you? It was loud and clear this time, Kitah couldn't pretend not to hear that. Though, it could be just a misunderstanding, maybe with 'you' he meant them all, in plural; why was he blushing then?
Could it be...?
Her mind was racing, and she still hadn't gotten to an answer to give him. The only thing she managed to say was "Oh..." after blushing as well.

"Hehe..." Tiberius managed to get out a faint laugh before looking away with an embarrassed red face. "Sorry... was I too.. Brash?" He asked after a while, not wanting to be a guy who shoves his own emotions into her face, he wanted to make sure she had her own time. But well, you never know, she might've already had enough time.

"Oh, no no, you weren't..." Kitah said quickly, noticing the heat that came up to her cheeks pretty fast. It was, on one side, very weird to see Tiberius blushing, and funny too, but...
"I uh... Did you uh... What did you...? What did you mean by... by that...?" She asked, unable to speak clearly as she usually did. But no, she ruined the whole question by babbling like a fool.

"What did I mean? I meant to say that i've liked you for a while," Tiberius blurted out, unable to hold it in, considering this is the first time that the two had ever had a talk about their feelings towards each other. He felt relieved to even say that to her, because he had tried setting aside those feelings for a long time, but they had always come back to bite him in the rear to go tell her.

After those words, Kitah's heart started to beat so fast it even hurt, and a rush of blood ran to her cheeks. A whole minute passed in which she was silent, staring at Tiberius; some more seconds, and more and more, till the silence became pretty awkward.
"...Really...?" She finally asked, unable to say too much more. Of course she wanted to say much more: she liked him too, a lot, since long ago, all that... but she always thought he didn't like her back, he was so proud and busy being chief...

"Yes! Yes really!" Tiberius's voice raised for a moment when he said that, but that was only because his heart was leaping with excitement. "I-i... I didn't want to tell you because I thought that it would force you to share the same feelings for me... I just wanted you to have time to find them on your own...." He said in a hushed tone, ashamed for saying it, but he did want to share his reason for not telling her this earlier.

"But... but Tiberius... I uh... I've liked you since years ago..." Kitah babbled with an embarrassed smile. Why didn't he tell her sooner? Why didn't she tell him sooner? It was hilarious, both of them had thought nearly the same thing.
And there she was, smiling like an idiot without giving further explanation, though what else could she say? Start telling the whole story?

"O-oh..." Tiberius had a slightly surprised smile on his face, "Geez, we're such blind fools when it comes to things like this." He giggled at the thought of them sharing the same feelings for years, but not even coming close to acting on them.

"Heh... yeah..." Kitah said, embarrased. "Uh... I uh... sorry I didn't tell you sooner, I just... I thought... I didn't know..." she babbled. Oh gods, why was it so hard to talk right now? "Geez, I'm not making any sense am I..."

"I think it's cute when you don't know what to say," Tiberius smiled gently, his cheeks burned red, but his eyes were calm as he looked at her. "It's okay, maybe it was for the best that we didn't tell each other till we really needed to look out for each other," He said, he started to get even more embarrassed because he sounded like an old man.

"Uh... you think so...?" Kitah asked, feeling how her cheeks lit up even more. She heard the rest of Tiberius' words, but only stayed in the first ones for quite a while, as she wasn't used to compliments, and less used to that kind of compliments. She dropped her gaze with embarrassment after looking at Tiberius' eyes, which seemed to be locked on her.

" Eh heheh..." Tiberius laughed awkwardly, breaking away eye contact from her only for a moment. "Well um... Instead of um.. you know. Wanna go do something? Like look for seashells, play in the water... Um whatever you want," Tiberius's words stumbled, he felt like a tyro again, trying to sound tough around Kitah, but failing so bad at the same time.

Kitah kept quiet for some time before replying. She really did miss their old tyro games, and wondered if it wouldn't be bad to play for a while; the current situation wasn't the very best for being fooling around, but... she shook off these thoughts and poked Tiberius' shoulder before running away. "Tag, you're it!" She giggled.

"Oh no you don't!" Tiberius laughed, going after her, reaching his paw out to tag her. In this very moment, Tiberius realized that he had always shared these feelings for her. They may have not been known to him at the time, but they were always there. Waiting for this very moment.

"Hey!" She laughed, now running after Tiberius to tag him back, though he was too fast for her. It was all still kind of weird, that he liked her back and all; for years their friendship almost ended in formality as they drifted apart from each other. She was so glad to have him back. Mates or not, they were now something more than just good friends.

Throwing out the game entirely, Tiberius turned around and faced the girl of his dreams, and got ready to maybe get run over by her. This was his chance to make her mine, to make her stay with him, to make her be with him. It was her choice after all, but his heart was in the right place, and this just felt so right.

Suddenly Tiberius stopped and turned around unexpectedly; she was already running at full speed to catch him, and though she tried to stop it didn't work much: she crashed against him, getting her face swallowed by the fluff on his chest. "Ehhh... hi?" She said with a muffled voice as she blushed.

Tiberius fell on to his back, with Kitah sprawled out over him, her face berried in his chest fur. "Well hello there," He replied with a cheeky smile. "There's something i've been meaning to say to you," Tiberius said, with all the courage he could muster up for this moment, "Would you, Kitah, be with me for the rest of our lives?" He asked, his eyes calm yet filled with love.

That sentence made her blush like she never did before. She looked at Tiberius, who smiled, and smiled too. "Of course, Tiberius," was her reply, as she drew her face hear his to lick his cheek. That was the moment she'd been waiting for since years ago, and it was finally happening.
