Thanks. The reflection in the pond is to represent that conquering the fears in our heads is trivial to those we face in real life. For me, personally, I could have a lot of made-up fears haunting me; alien invasions, brain microchips, asteroid impacts, etc. But those are all in my head (or out of my control). The fears I should truly attempt to overcome are the real ones that I face every day, and while they're not as big as a zombie apocalypse, I do have worries about my job security. I worry about deadlines. I sometimes fear my friends have forgotten about me sometimes.

Here, Scootaloo is told a frightening campfire story about an old creeping mare who haunts the woods, seeking her lost rusty shoe. If she finds you, and you don't have it, words can't describe what she does to you. The story leaves Scootaloo absolutely terrified, and metaphorically running from a mental projection of the old mare in her inevitable nightmares.

But we learn that her true greatest fear is not the one in her head. She's terrified that Dash would learn that she's not as tough as she presents herself to be, and let a silly little campfire story embed deep into her nightmares. Sure, she could have just as easily faced the mare in the dream, bringing a happy resolution. But that wouldn't make the root problem go away. It's not the mare, not the story that scares her most. It's her idol seeing that she was scared by a story.

Aw i so need to catch up on this series, ive seen the first season and some of the second :3 i loved the stories and more so the morals behind them too and ponies are just great to look at anyways XD Thanks very much for the explanation! Very well put!! :3

Yeah, it's actually kinda funny if you play the Livestream playback, you'll see that it all goes well for a while until I actually position Scootaloo against the background in the intended position, then realize to my horror I put a bright dull-orange character silhouetted against a bright dull-orange backlight with no justifiable amounts of rim lighting able to get the intended separation. So that's why she kinda appears darker and doesn't blend too well with the ground; I totally botched on the choice in background color too early on, and since I treated it like a speed painting, didn't take the time to analyze the color composition properly before laying everything down.

Since this was just a drawing exercise for myself, and created with the sole intent of having another idle video for my Livestream channel's offline mode, I'm not horribly worried about it.
