Sighhhh...

I kinda did it to myself. Figured I would go above the simple "few shapes and gradients retro style" of backgrounds. I've found that while such are well and good, I also know that my true aspirations lie in being a background artist/landscape painter, so the time seems nigh to combine both my coloring desire and panging internal nagging that tugs at me to make original landscape work.

The ghost of Roger Dean haunts me. And that bastard ain't even dead yet.

I immediately envisioned this scene the moment I saw the lines, and knew it was inevitable. I would be throwing away a gargantuan piece of my time to make that vision come to fruition.

I actually started this image a week ago, getting the character completed and a basic wacom sketch of the background in place by Wednesday. However, I have gone through a dramatic transition in my job, and had to sort out a lot of my life before getting back into this one.

Which worked out just fine. I opened this image up tonight about four hours ago. And I immediately thought that it was just my good luck, because I was in a mood to just paint whatever.

To give some background on the character. While she's a half-dragon of sorts, the color scheme is an homage to my pet lizard Jhet. He (or she, neither of us are in a mood to find out which) has warm flame red colors along the side, dark brown carapace, a white underbelly, and two yellow pin stripes running the length of the back.

Enough blowing hot air. San Fernando Valley has enough of that wisping about already.

In D&D, and I'm guessing some other forms of RPG's, the dragon Polymorphs(as they are generally also spell casters). However, their genetic coding doesn't change, so.. the kid still comes out half-dragon? I'm not sure if that's quite right or not.

This means a human had to do something with a dragon, right?! Any one depict that scene, yet?

Funny you should bring that up.

According to some dragon lore, they sometimes kept human female slaves for "those" purposes. The way I found this out was by through a line of silver statues I saw at a comic shop. I hailed the casher, all "dude, is that dragon sportin' a bonerino for that chick in chains?"

Never thought the same of dragons ever again.

Either they are hung very tiny, or that has got to hurt. Once you go dragon, you might never go back ....
